I’m in dire need of some new music or concert dvds. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I already have the Allmans at beacon, Govt Mule, a ton of Clapton, ton of stevie ray, the Bonaroo discs, wannee fest, black crowes (the new acoustic brothers of feather dvd is excellent), the Derek trucks, zeppelin, pink floyd, David Glimore, lighting in bottle.

There’s nothing like unwinding after a vicious day of work with a nice single malt scotch, a bold Nicaraguan cigar, some tasty herb, a little billiards and a show on the big screen.

Jimi Hendrix at Monterrey is a pretty tasty little dvd.
Well shot, awesome sound, has a nice documentary included with it.

I've also enjoyed the new ZZ Top dvd.
The version of "Just Got Paid" is worth the price of the dvd alone. With the Reverend Billy G, playing awesome slide on the Les Paul (he mainly plays the new BillyBo guitar for most of the performance), will take you right back to the early '70's. He fuggin' OWNS that tune during this performance.

The Band's "The Last Waltz" is an absolute must.

"Woodstock" and "Monterey" are also gems.

I am a big Stones fan, so I like "Gimme Shelter," but if you can find a boot copy of "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones," that is better.

The Zappa "Baby Snakes" concert movie is a hoot.

Miles Davis live at Isle of Wight, "electric Miles," is quite cool.

Steve Hackett "Somewhere in South America" is some hot prog rock.

And a recent Yes set called "Songs from Tsongas" is really really mind-blowing!

If you have a ton of Clapton / Derek you may already have it, but Clapton's 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival is hot.

Clapton's band (w/ Derek at the time) does a truly awesome version of Tell the Truth that's worth the price of admission.

Even John Mayer acquits himself nicely.

I'll second the Rory Gallagher DVDs!

One of the most underrated/overlooked guitarists!
I saw Rory a few times during the 70s. The man could ROCK!

You really seem to know some of life's pleasures.

BILLIARDS and blues brother! Cigars and Single malt!

Yeah, I'd say you know what's packin' pleasure right there.

The Band's "The Last Waltz", Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense", and the Led Zeppelin DVD are the Holy Trinity. The commentary tracks on "Stop Making Sense" are priceless.

Great topic. a great one that I just saw was The Johnny Cash show from 1969-71. It is good. It has a lot of country stuff but it is awesome. Good Waylon Jennings, Neil Young, Johnny Cash. A killer, let me repeat "killer" version of Ray Charles doing Ring of Fire. (he does it in the coolest blues style). It also has a band called Derek and the Dominoes doing Its too late. Believe me.....this one is awesome

Put aside musical tastes for a moment. Every DVD I’ve listed below passes the test of being a) well shot, b) well edited, c) good sound quality, and d) a good performance. There’s a wide range of quality in music DVD’s – some barely watchable or listenable. But all these are very good in those regards. I have many more, but I consider these the best quality discs. It’s up to you if you like the artists or not -

Concert For Bangladesh
Last Waltz
David Byrne – Live at Union Chapel (excellent!)
Eric Clapton – Live in Hyde Park (for my money, his best DVD)
Cream – Royal Albert Hall
Dido Live – (I know many will ridicule this one, but it’s much better than you’d imagine)
Electric Light Orchestra – Zoom
Peter Frampton – Live in Detroit
Peter Gabriel – Secret World Live (fantastic!)
Peter Gabriel – Growing Up Live
Genesis – When In Rome
David Gilmour – In Concert (mostly acoustic & very good!)
David Gilmour – Live at the Royal Albert Hall
Mark Knopfler – Real Live Roadrunning (with Emmylou Harris)
Diana Krall – Live in Paris
Diana Krall – Live at the Montreal Jazz Festival
Lightning In A Bottle – (check the bonus section!)
Aimee Mann – Live at St. Ann’s Warehouse
John Mayall – 70th Birthday Concert
Loreena McKennitt – Nights at the Alhambra
moe. – Live from the Fillmore
Roy Orbison – Black & White Night (absolutely essential!!!)
Pink Floyd – Live at Pompeii
Pink Floyd – PULSE
Porcupine Tree – Arriving Somewhere… (very good!)
Procol Harum – Live at Union Chapel (exceptional!)
The Radiators – Earth vs The Radiators
Joe Satrini – Live in San Francisco
Boz Scaggs – Greatest Hits Live
Soul Comes Home
Talking Heads – Stop Making Sense
Rolling Stones – Shine A Light
Robin Trower – Living Out of Time
Derek Trucks – Songlines Live
Roger Waters – In the Flesh Live
Steve Winwood – Soundstage
Neil Young – Heart of Gold
Zappa Plays Zappa
