The long list of classic rock groups to play the Super Bowl since the Janet Jackson miscue continues. Bruce Springsteen has been named the half time act for the upcoming Super Bowl. I must say it is gettng a little predictable and boring. They need to step outside the box just a little.

Steve Winwood

Since it's football, he can play:

How about an ABB 40th Anniversary set with Dickey Betts sitting in with the band for a few tunes?

When you're booking entertainment for the single largest mass media event in the world, "outside the box" is probably not what you're looking for.

The Superbowl halftime show is all about mainstream appeal. You're talking about an event that nearly 1 billion people watch.

On the short list of artists that have that kind of wide appeal, Springsteen is up near the top. I haven't enjoyed his last few albums, but he can still get it done live.

I'd say Prince, Tom Petty and Springsteen are a big step up from Janet Jackson, IMO.

oh I so don't have a problem w/Bruce - but I would much prefer to see the Boys up there celebrating their 40th - quite an accomplishment!

I think Bruce is a good choice, although the Brothers would be awesome. But I would rather see any true "Rock" or "Blues" band than hip-hop crap, which is what most of the players listen too. Not to mention most NFL commercials for games and sportwear is overkill with that rap garbage.

If they put Bruce Pukestein up there, I will turn it off and listen to something else - can't stand him.
