I purchase the "Instant Live"/"Munchmix" discs every year at Jones Beach!!!
One of my favorite summer rituals is anticipating, and carrying out that purchase!!!

I used to record the shows in an embarassingly amateurish way, but now I let the Munchmix people do all the work for me.

I now have all the Instant Lives from 2004 to 2008!

Seems like each year they move the Instant Live vendor to somewhere else in or around the venue. This year it was within a tent in the middle of the snacks/merchandise area. The first two years they did it (in 2004 and 2005) it was outside the venue in the parking lot.

I usually get on line early because once the show ends the line gets really long. The guys who make the discs and package them have a huge duping machine that keeps on burning until everybody gets a set of discs. They seem like a merry bunch of dupers, talking loudly and laughing it up while we're on line waiting for our prized discs.
I'm surprised how fast things get rolling once the master disc arrives from the soundboard.

Once I get my copy, I run to my car in the packed lot and drive home with it playing at full volume. This year's show sounds great, especially the "Les Brers In A Minor" "Jessica" and the terrific "Afro Blue." I also played the entire show on Thursday, the day after the show.

Then I file away the discs, right next to last year's show. I usually forget about it until a year later when the ABB are back in town. I listen to the entire show and then head into Jones Beach and start the ritual all over again!!!

So how do you like this year's Jones Beach "Instant Live/Munchmix" discs???????

love your ritual barry, have a very similar one and have also done the same as you as far as getting the instant live since the became available at shows, also go every year to jones beach!been there every year since 1989,also have done 1 and only1 (cant afford more than 1 beacon show since they started playing there).like everyone else was upset at no beacon shows this year had my ticket to my 1 show but they had to cancell.hated the fact of not being able to see my favorite and i think best live show anyone can see but understood .just very very glad gregg is ok health wise and it was AWSOME to see him playing so well and singing so well, but more happy to see him smiling from ear too ear while on stage that alone was worth the ticket price!!reading some of the peoples comments about show quality and how good or not so good gregg and or the band played kind of upset me a little because hey where damn fortunate that gregg was able to beat this and live and be up there and want to be up there for himself im sure but more so for us,let me repeat that fOR US he dont need the money he does it for the love of music his and the bands music and FOR US so lets all cut gregg and the band some slack let them get to know each other and the music again and itll all work out for everyone!!! thats just my take on it and once again great ritual barry and thanks for the time!!! mickey

I bought both bands (ABB+Ratdog) last summer at Nissan, they both sound great. The ABB one especially, the guitars just jump out, real high in the mix, gives 'em a slightly different tone. Hmm, think I'll put that on now.... actually you can hear everything so clearly, amazing after all these years listening to auds, which are great sounding themselves.

Hearing this makes me wish they'd get the download thing together, I'll bet they could sell a lot with reviews like this tour is getting.
