I am going to see abb at spac tuesday - psyched!
My wife backed out and I will bring my 12yr old daughter to her first rock & roll show - glad it will be abb.
I hope she enjoys it and changes her mind about her dislike of abb music after she witnesses the event live - we have great seats too.
This should be a memory she will cherish - I know i will.

That is way cool, TurkeyMan! Hope your daughter enjoys the show! You 2 have a great time - and you are right - this will be a memory you both will cherish. I remember taking son and friends to their 1st Grateful Dead show about 12 or so years ago...was cool to witness their reactions and share it with them.

Turkeyman,

Hope your daughter has a great experience at her 1st ABB show, and that also that both of you have a chance to meet some of people who make up this community. BTW, it took my wife about 3 shows to understand why I'm into the ABB and she certainly enjoys meeting many of people that populate this community. Is she a big ABB fan? NO. But now she'll go to the concerts, and has met a number of people here, and she knows who Derek Trucks is, as they say little by little, bit by bit. You and your daughter have a great time, and sure down the road it'll be one of those moments that she'll remember sharing with her Dad.

That's great, TurkeyMan! My first ABB show was my older son's first as well. The next time he went, we took two of his friends to PNC for their first ABB show. They had such a great time, they still talk about it 5 years later. My 18 year old has now been to 14 ABB shows, and loves the band and the people we meet there as much as my husband and I do.
I hope you all have a wonderful time!

My youngest is 16, next Friday will be his 8th ABB show.

He was 10 the first time he saw them.

All four of my kids have seen the band at least twice.

I love taking them to shows.

Turkey man, I hope your daughter enjoys it!
My son whojust turned 13 went with me last night and it was originally supposed to be his first show.
But he actually came with me up to Rochester in early July where we caught Derek and Susan - so that was
his first show. He loved it both times. Last night he actually told me he understood why I love this band so much and
after seeing Derek on his own - he appreciated the back and forth of Derek and Warren even more so last night!
I think it's better to expose the early teens to something we can share together and to show them that
you can enjoy great music live without getting totally messed up - moderation is key.
Have fun! Now if I could only get my wife to like the brothers. ....... Another story for another time.

took my 30 year old daughter & beau to see derek & susan 2 weeks ago at hampton beach, after years of her making fun of my music. the next day she went out and bought songlines & hope & desire. now she wants to go to the abb show sat. lol, any time she wants to spend with dear old dad is a bonus these days. life is so busy..........enjoy every second of it, i hope your daughter does too.

That is so ccol man.

I have a 20 year old daughter that is a huge Mule and Derek fan.

We went together to see the ABB when she was 17. This year in Atlanta will be our fourth time.

Incidently, my 22 year old daughter is a big UGA football fan and we go to a game together each fall.

I am all for good clean fun that draws families together.

Dano.

Very cool!

Don't have kids of my own but my niece and nephew are up visiting from VA this month. Eight & ten. Took them to the Patriots/Ravens game last week (they live in Ravens country but LOVE the Pat's) I know they had a great time but I'm sure I had a better time!!!!

I took Mule Girl when she was not even seven to the Allman Brothers.

Now she is almost 10 and has gone to two Mountain Jams with me.

Emily is 15 now and has been going to ABB and other shows since she was 8....too many to count off the top of my head, including GOTV and all years of Wanee.

Does she listen exclusively to the same stuff I do?
Nope.

But, she does love the music and the live show event....and in turn she's got me to at least tolerate (if not "love") White Strips and Green Day...

Not only will you have a blast, but it will give you something to bond about when you go through those difficult teen years. Definitely come to Wharfstock, and let her meet all the great folks there. My daughter, now 22, still talks about having her first jello shots with her father and people that are way cooler than most others her age.
