Injuries taking longer to heal.

Uh, what was the question, again?

Finding myself having those "when I was a kid" or "the problem with kids today is..." conversations.

I'm 38. Man. Grumpy comes on fast as you get older.

Amen to that. And having more and more losses as the years go by and realizing that they are no longer older loved ones but your peers.
presbiopia and sore joints

(btw - there are many things I love about getting older, too. Like knowing I'm no longer looking at 30-40 years of servitude.)

38? Shut up already! I'm old enough to be your father.

Damn kids like you don't know how good they have it.

To the point of losing older family and friends comes the realization that you are now the head or the senior member of the family.

And you're not cranky, right?

Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of days, although I'm not sure why.

Being a part of the "sandwich generation".
Watching my elderly parents health declining, my daughter leaving for her freshman year in college (UGA) this Saturday, and my son leaving Sept. 8 for 8 months in Paris to study Architecture through Georgia Tech. I won't get to see him the entire time. My mother was just admitted to the hospital today from her nursing home.

I feel like I am being "squushed" from both ends of the generational spectrum. And I STILL have to work 40 hours a week! (Oops, sorry this turned into a vent.....guess I'm a cranky old woman now too just to top things off!!).

Laura Jane

P.S. GRAY hairs multiplying on my scalp like weeds!!!

Losing friends/family the same age as you, or even younger--and wondering why the hell you've survived

Memory loss

Arthritis

When it takes you all night to do what you used to do all night

I surrendered to old age when I got one of those plastic thingies with a compartment for each day of the week where you put your daily dose of prescription meds a/k/a a "pill reminder." For my 50th birthday as a gag gift, Paul and Heidi got me a Super Jumbo Pill Reminder which is an exact copy of the one I have except really huge. I still laugh when I find it in my closet.

One thing I (so far) refuse to get is one of those collapsible shopping carts you keep in the car so you can wheel your groceries in. I live in a high rise w/LOTS of senior citizens and those things are real popular around here. I can still carry my stuff.
