Here we go - after 11 months it sure feels good to get back on the road with the Allman Brothers Band! When I left Atlanta on Friday the highs were in the 90’s. In Chicago today the highs were in the low 70’s. (I’m up here picking up the Munck Mix guys and some of their equipment). We ended up in Toledo tonight and will arrive in the Great State of New York on Monday.

It should be a beautiful drive tomorrow through Pennsylvania. The past two days have been a joy as well – traveling through the Midwest – seeing those vast fields of bountiful corn. It’s soooo dry in Atlanta as our 3 year drought continues – it felt good to see the healthy crops in the field .

I’m looking forward to working the new venue at Bethel Woods and going to the Woodstock museum. At Mtn Jam this past year we got to hang with the some of the guys from Radio Woodstock and you could feel their excitement build for the 40th anniversary (something I could relate to from a Brothers point of view).

I think all of us are wondering what it’s going to be like…the first show with Brother Gregory back behind the B3. I thought the family Jam at Wanee was an incredible experience – I filmed it for the archives and have watched it numerous times. What a magnificent gift of lemonade instead of lemons. However, as good as that night was, it was still bittersweet without Gregg. I couldn’t help but feel the strong anxiety of worry. Now, 11 months later, knowing that the treatments worked, hearing that he is itching to play - I’m just feeling damn excited for opening night!

I’ll keep posting back here from time to time – please stop by the Hittin’ the Note tent to say hi and to sign up for the next year’s worth of issues – we’ve got some cool things up our sleeves for the 40th!

See you on the road,

JNB

I look forward to hearing about your exploits, Joe! Have fun being back on the road!

I won't get to see you until Raleigh, but I know this first leg will be a ball.

Glad the first part of your journey was fun! It only gets better from here, brother

I'm here in Atlanta holding down the fort at the office, I wish I could catch these shows. All of our brothers and sisters up North, make Joe feel welcome and show him some hospitality.

Keep us posted!

We'll see you in Chicago and you'll already have a few shows under your beltby then,
I think you nailed the feelings we've all had over the last few months, and the anticipation that awaits. Enjoy, keep us updated, and be safe on the road brother.

Joe, I have to make sure that I get to see you at Chastain. My wife and I will be moving to Wiesbaden, Germany shortly after, and I won't be able to make JFD. I just wanted to thank you in person for all of the times that you guys at HTN have made the ABBfamily feel special. I am gonna miss seeing this family that we have. I have never had such true friends. Thanks, and keep things wacky for Brother Willie!

Considering that Jones Beach is tonight ...
can you guess what the answer might be?

I am pumped to see "It Takes a Lot to Laugh..." on the setlist. Loved hearing Levon do the tune at Wanee and it is right up the Brothers alley, can't wait to hear there take on it.

Thank you for the set list. Can't wait to hear what they play tonight on Long Island.
Since "The Weight" was on the list last night, I guess it's safe to assume that Susan must've sang on that one. I also hope they keep Stormy Monday on the list tonight.

p.s. - JNB, a while back, whoever helped me on the phone back at your neck of the woods steered me in the right direction when I was looking to purchase some shows from last summer.
I ended up getting both Boston shows from 8-7 and 8-8-07. Great shows, extra long with 3 cd's each. I one very satisfied customer!
