I don't know if this was ever posted. I love a good, smooth Tequila at times. Straight up, no ice, no lime. Taking my time to enjoy a glass of it. Yet it is too much, in this economy lately, to spend $60 ++ for a bottle of Petron, or even Cabo Wabo, which is pretty good, at $50+ a bottle. Obviously they are worth every cent. Can anyone recommend anything near as good for much less cost? Please, no mention of shots, salt and lemon, etc.

I like tequila, but tequila doesn't like me. I've cut WAY back since I dropped my bike in the driveway hammered on that stuff. I think the last time I had some was at the end of May.

Two Fingers Tequila is very good. Not as pricey as Patron, or Cabo.

Hornitos & Sauza are pretty good but Cazaderos is the best buy. Many local Hispanics favor it. A damn good Tequila but no Patron or Don Julio (mmmmhmmmm) prices. I can get Patron Anejo for $19 a pint and $38 a fifth which is very good. That's at Total Wine where they the best prices on most everything.

Herradura.

I used to work for a liquor distributor here. Every now and then, we would get a sample from someone wanting us to sell their stuff. The best tequila I have ever had came in hand-blown glass bottle with a cork stopper. Can't even remember the name of it, and it had been there long before I got there and "appropriated" all three sizes of it.

I'm giving up all forms of alcohol for a while. But I love 100% agave tequila.

One time while still in college, my aunt had been to Mexico and brought a bottle of mezcal back for me. My roommate and I cooked spaghetti that night. Don't know what really happened, but there was spaghetti all over the apartment, and we had apprently beaten the sh!t out of each other.

I like Patron and if I'm just sipping and want a treat Porfidio Single Barrel Single Agave Anejo.

Try Sauza Tres Generacianes.

But if you really want to splurge, the best I've ever had i (and I've had a bunch) is
Cuervo De La Familia. It's about 100.00 a bottle, but worth every penny. Do not cheapen it with lime and salt - chilled, striaght up, the only way to go. Hmmm, think I might have to invest in a bottle for the Red Rocks trip.

Well, that's mezcal. Contrary to popular belief, there are no worms in tequila.

Best tequila I have ever had. Milagro blows Patron out of the water...at about half the price ($27 - 750mL).

I like a good bottle that has been in the frezer for awhile, sip it with no ice.

Petron or Cabo Wabo works for me.

Gave up narcotics in the '70's....

A true story re tequila, may have posted before....
Fellow I knew got divorced, went a little nuts, like guys do in that situation, moved to Birmingham, took up with 3 ladies, one of whom was a dentist. Mid '80's.
Almost every night they would go out, do something. Music, tractor pulls, rasslin', rodeo, car racing....then they would end up at the apartment of the dentist.

They would then all raise their glasses of tequila together and shout, "Jose!"
Then over to the tank of laughing gas the dentist kept in her apartment for "Hose B"
Then to the counter top for "Hose C"
And repeat.

They're probably all dead now
