That was my first Soul Stew show. Goddamn it was good!

Some patently average photos:

Just won't burn ... nice addition. Idon't grow tired of these heavy D&Domino setlists.
Even with those monsters sprinkled in, People and Hercules are the showstoppers, imo.

Maybe it's just me, but I've seen Soul Stew Revival 5 times now. While I respect the band's desire, or maybe management's desire, to book more respectful (seated) venues - these players and this music just begs for more spirited audience interaction. This is not sit on your a$$ and clap politely music. Maybe by playing different venues, you reach a wider audience. Seems like Hornsby tried this approach. Whatever, just play - I'll pay. The two shows on this tour that I attended were both $50 GA. Seems like last year, HoB Dallas was $28 and Paramount Denver was $30.

I needed a vacation after the Hampton Beach and Melody Tent shows. Hampton was far and away the better of the two shows- the band came off a fews days without gigs (but they said there was little rest while they partied in Boston). The house was packed with little room to stand, but very responsive to the music.

They added Don't Think Twice as a first encore and brought down the house with the Weight. As Sue mentioned, there was some funky stuff going on all night between the Trucks.

We had a great time hanging with susea and friend and it was great to meet Lexmark. I am sorry I missed the chance to meet njpai!!!

Here are f few pictures, including one of the few I have ever taken of Derek playing with his eyes opened! And here's another reminder of why some us us call him Smiley instead of Smallie...

i brought along a couple of newbies, my 30 year old daughter and her boyfriend and my 47 year old cousin and his wife. my daughter called me 2 days later and said she bought songlines, and hope & desire. i told her she should've got the dvd, but that she could borrow mine, her boyfriend is still in awe and now they're beggin to go to comcast next sat. they used to laugh at me and call me a groupie........ who's laughin now ?
my cousin called me yesterday and he too went out and bought songlines. it's so much fun to see peoples reaction to seeing derek for the first time. that was a blow me away show. i really love this time of year around here. i'm soooo ready for mansfield next sat.

don't forget the peacheaters parking lot jam before the show.
