My 21-year old just sent me a text message.

He's at a Poison concert.

Where did I go wrong, Lord!? What could I have done differently . . .

In order to fully establish his own identity and differentiate from you he must rebel on matters he believes to be key to you, to fully seperate and move into adulthood. This is a healthy, though painful, period, and one which you must endure with patience, love, and understanding. I remember my parents freaking out over the Beatles. The Beatles! Continue to love them even through the differences and disagreements, and they will come back to you as adults, their own person, and someone that you can be proud to call your offspring.

Sniff . . . okay. I'll hope that he's just there to hit on the cougars.

Droog, maybe it's just the hot chicks in leather and spandex in the crowd that is the lure for your son. It could be worse. He could have been at a Britney Spears or Snoop Dog concert. Most teenager's music I hear playing these days has no melody to it, just drum beats, loud tasteless guitar and groaning or rapping in place of singing. At least Poison somewhat resembles rock and roll.

Oh Droogie! So sorry to hear about this - can only hope this is a phase that he'll outgrow (at least it wasn't Twisted Sister...).

Twisted Sister is from where I live on Long Island and believe it or not they were a very good heavy band before they came out with that comercial 'We're Not Gonna Take It' crap. I saw them live back in the club days and they put on a hell of a show. People would line up at the clubs five or six hours before they were open to get in and close to a couple thousand people would get shut out. After they came out with the comercial crap that made them famous around the world for five minutes I totally lost interest. I would love to hear a recording of some of the old shows from The Mad Hatter or Hammerheads, two of the more popular rock clubs from back in the day on Long Island.
