Looks like Derek and Warren are working thru, approx., the first week of Aug.
Anyone know when the band is getting together to practice?
I don't know why this always seems to interest me, but it does.
It's almost like I want a day by day glimpse into how things are going,
especially now that Gregg has dealt with his Hep treatments.
Is there anyone out there that can give a good word later?
Thanks

Derek has Mon. 8/4 to Mon. 8/11 open and Warren has Sun 8/3 to Thur 8/7 open.
I would think they would be rehearsing 8/4 to 8/7.

So.... no one knows anythng or, and i completely understand if this is the case,
we are completely disinterested?
I understand this may be a sensative issue since we don't know what Gregg
will be able to do. Again, i'm just curious.

The best band in the world doesn't need to rehearse!

Don't reherse! Remember what happened the last time they did.

I expect most don't know anything, like me, and those that do probably would keep it quiet so the band is not swarmed with groupies, again, like me!

i always wonder about that too, as a player myself....Sure Derek and warren have their other bands and are playing all the time, but they must have to brush up on some ABB riffs, and chord changes. And if they're gonna do a different cover song, they first have to figure the song out before they can practice it as a band.

Back in the early 90's (I believe) there was an ABB show at Miami University in Oxford OH. They came out and played almost 4 hrs. with no opening band. Millet Hall only holds about 4000. I later heard that the show was a rehearsal. I was out of town, and didn't see the show myself. My friends that did see it said it was the best ABB show they had ever seen. This was held a week before the Beacon run.

I sure wish Derek had rehersed some more before the 2007 Beacon Run. His chops were fine, but you could tell during Desdemona on the Real opening night that he was trying to remember what to play during his solo.

"I understand this is a sensitive issue since we don't know what Gregg will be able to do."

WHAT?? Hey, if Mr. Gregg Allman says he's ready to go, that's all you need to know, babe.
He's a consummate pro and he wouldn't be going out there unless he could give it 100%. Otherwise, they never would have cancelled any shows to begin with.

I seem to remember an interview with Gregg where he said an ABB rehearsal is an oxymoron - that doesn't quite fit what he meant to say, but the jist was, they don't rehearse.

This is improvisational, blues-based music, certainly not rocket science. These guys have been playing together for a LONG time and they are some of the top musicians in the world. I don't think anyone will forget how to play Whipping Post or Statesboro Blues. I'll be at Bethel Wood for opening night and I guarantee its going to be magic, rehearsal or no rehearsal.

Actually this time around I do think they will do at least one dry run. It has been 11 months and regardless of how awesome they are, one afternoon in a rehearsal hall would probably be all they need. I don't imagine it being a strict rehearsal but more like a jam session. I can't wait to see them in a couple of weeks.

I can hear the cheers now as Greg walks out on stage! It going to be a moment.

I agree....major league babseball players are the best in the world and every year they go to spring training to "rehash" the basics of the game...

The Allman Brothers Band, current lineup , lights my fire like no other band out there today....i can't effin wait for church and school to start again..

This is a good topic and concern; after all it was after the band was doing rehearsals in Atlanta a few months back that the decision was made to scrap the Beacon run until Gregg gets stronger. So I guess the correct thing to say is yes they will rehearse, even if it is just a day or two.

The musicians in the abb are humans, which means they need to rehearse. They did not become the best band in the world by not rehearsing, and they want a perfect show like all musicians, so they will rehearse.

not to mention that haynes claims and was quoted that

"There are some new songs floating around in the Allman Brothers camp." and then went on to say:

"Maybe we’ll see some of the new songs start to surface on stage." whether that means new original or new covers remains to be seen.

rehearsing new songs before they are played live onstage is what most people do.

Hey, thanks for looking up the quotes......Anyway, the new songs could come together during long pre-show sound checks. I think you folks are underestimating these guys. Any new material would need to be rehearsed before playing. No doubt. But the regular catalog is ingrained. They could start up with Statesboro on opening night and go from there. Whether there's a big rehearsal, or not, is not THAT important. And I would not count on lots of "new" material this tour. We're just lucky GA is back in the saddle.
