I've heard of them before and know Winwood also played in it, but have never heard any
tracks from them. I know they had two albums (1 live 1 studio).

Just curious about 'em.

I'm probably wrong, but ... wasn't Adrian Gurvitz in that band? If so I'm sure there is probably some great guitar. Which ... by the way ... have any of y'all ever heard ... or better yet ... has ANYBODY got a copy of The Graham Edge Band Featuring Adrain Gurvitz - "Kick Off Your Muddy Boots"??? Please send me a PM!!! I've been looking for a copy for years. Nice playin' on that one.

Haven't listened to this in ages - I have it on vinyl. This was (is) an old favorite.

Adrian Gurvitz not in Ginger Baker's Air Force.

I've got one of the LP's...gotta go dig it out...

Ginger Baker's Air Force was a jazz-rock fusion band comprising Ginger Baker on drums, Steve Winwood on organ and vocals, Ric Grech on violin and bass, Jeanette Jacobs on vocals, Denny Laine on guitar and vocals, Remi Kabaka on drums, Chris Wood on tenor sax and flute, Graham Bond on alto sax, Harold McNair on tenor sax and flute, and Phil Seamen on percussion. Their first live shows, at Birmingham Town Hall in 1969 and the Royal Albert Hall, in 1970, also included Jeanette Jacobs and Eleanor Barooshian (both former members of girl group The Cake), and Remi Kabaka.

Thank you Lolasdeb! Your right It was the Baker/Gurvitz Army not Airforce. No wonder I was confused. Lol! Lolas ... I believe I still have it on vinyl, but ... It was in print on CD once. Now original copys of the disc are going for like $50.00 on e-bay. May I'd love to get a copy of it somehow.

Wow - just took a look out there and found them anywhere from $40 to $78 ... crazy! Now I'm wishing I DID have this on CD Good luck finding this Charlesinator! Looks like there are many sites on web offering this up as torrents, etc. Don't know if that's kosher since it's now out of print but hope you get your copy - it is a good one.

I had the second album on LP. Not brilliant, but had some fun moments.
Also I have one live show from circ. December 1970.

I think they were also on the bill for the Atlanta Pop Festival.

i had the double lp many many years ago. don't remember much about it except i wasn't really impressed and wound up trading it at a used record store. if you're looking for solo ginger may i suggest "going back home" with bill frisell and charlie haden.

I bought the album when it first came out.I liked it okay, but didn't think it was worth the sum of it's parts.I love Ginger's drumming though and wish he had had more commercial success as the great drummer and stylist that he is.

I have both Air Force albums...got the first one on CD, too. Also, have the Baker/Gurvitz Army LPs. Actually, come to think of it, I have quite a few Ginger Baker albums.

Oh, I have that Graeme Edge Band LP with Adrian Gurvitz, as well.

Only bad thing is that ALL my LPs (I have around 3500 of 'em) are in storage, my apartment isn't big enough for them (AND my CDs, too....so the CDs won the battle for space...my CD collection is quickly nearing the size of my record collection) I'm wishing I had access to them now so I could revisit them and be able to comment on the music again...it's just been a WAY long time since I've listened to any of the albums mentioned in this thread. (well, except the first Airforce one, that is)

Cream To Reunite At Ginger Baker Tribute

CreamRock trio Cream are to reunite again for a tribute to drummer Ginger Baker. The band reformed for its induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and again for concerts in London and New York in 2005.

And now Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce will join Baker in October, when he is honored by cymbal maker Zildjian at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

And bassist Bruce says, "I know there's a good chance we may play at that event... but I don't want to overstate it and make it into something it isn't."

The bass player insists the trio is planning to "have a chat about" future reunions: "I think there might be a chance of some more. I would like to do some more... I would like another shot at it. But it's quite difficult for us, because it's all very separate - Ginger's living in South Africa, Eric's this megastar, and it's difficult for us to keep in communication. But as soon as we do it's wonderful."
