Peter Frampton @ the House of Blues last night (Sunday, 27th).... it was funny how this "acoustic show" came about....we were leaving a family gathering @ Lefty's brother's & Lefty gets a call from the booker @ the HOB (this happened around 4:30 p.m.)...the booker asks if he wants to pick up an acoustic show from 9:00 to 9:45 & of course he accepted.....

On the way to the HOB, where Lefty & the No Mercy Band had a full band gig starting @ 10:00, we were laughing about how it would be funny if Lefty was opening for Peter Frampton upstairs....well, we were loading into the elevator & noticed Lefty's name on the Production sheet opening for Peter Frampton....we cracked up... & as Lefty normally does (sharing time on stage) he asks JP if he wants to play his electric....Lefty also tries to get them to let Pete play too, but they just didn't have enough time to set up for 3 people....since it was about 8:30....

To add to the fun night, with about 15 minutes left to go in their 45 minute set Lefty breaks an A string....it was comical to watch him recover & play 3 more songs with a broken string....& as always JP ripped....then they ended the night with a show from 10:00 til around 1:30 or so.....All of this after playing Friday & Saturday nights! These guys are CRAZY about playing!

Anyway, just wanted to share that....very PROUD of my boys!!!!

Lefty is being modest. He knows darn well he has a guitar tech, and so does JP.

The problem though, is that JP is Lefty's guitar tech, and Lefty is JP's guitar tech, and neither were available during that gig to replace a string.

I understand Frampton's people wouldn't let them use monitors, they had to go off personal knowledge of each other's playing. True pros. Always refreshing to see good things happen to good people.

LOL, but I don't know how to tune a left handed guitar... is it backwards?

Thanks Randy, it was a little difficult because all I could hear was the echo of my guitar off of the back wall of the venue, so there was a little time delay problem. But it sure was a lot of fun.

I don't understand why headliners won't give the support they need to the opening acts. Why in the world would they NOT give you monitors? They are as essential to on stage performance as the guitars and mics, themselves. Reminds me of DMB not giving ABB the full PA or the light show.

Lefty ripped too. I've never seen anyone play a 5 string like that. And he's not so bad on the 6 sting either.
