However you get new music on CD's, albums, downloads, etc.

Where do you listen to it?

Computer

Stereo

Car

Personal Music player

A friend's house

Work on a boombox

For me, it is usually in my truck. Then work. Occasionally on the stereo, but the
computer can be close behind.

For awhile, I was getting a lot of music via iTunes because all music immediately goes to my iPods (Shuffle for running). But after advice from others here, I learned that iTunes doesn't always have the best file type for download - so now I'm back to buying a physical CD. Immediately I listen in the car on the way home, then onto my iPod, which is basically never leaves my side. It gets plugged into my PC at work (I also listen to Pandora there), then into my car, then to my stereo at home and finally into my bedside Bose clock radio to lull me to sleep.

iPod = Security Blanket

I listen to my CDs on my dedicated two-channel tube based stereo, as that's where they sound the best and the most real.

Tubes Rule!!

Btw, here's a link to my system, it's modest but sounds pretty damn good. Next upgrade will be the speakers.

In my car - usually unwrap it as soon as I leave the store and pop it into my car player.

Stereo - reading the liner notes whilst enjoying coffee or another beverage. After a while, I capture and transfer over to my I-pod for portability.

exactly. I unwrap the cd the moment I leave the security gates at the store and have the booklet in my hands as I pop the cd in my car cd player.

The car is the best place to commune with your new music! And yes - the old cassettes were murder!

Those CD's aren't exactly easy to get into either...like George Costanza and his condoms, it's like playing beat the clock!

I listen in the car first, but it's hard to read the liner notes and drive. (Hard, not impossible).

If you remove the plastic outside, place your hands toward the top of the cd case and gently open and the security tape with snap. Easy

Actually, at my computer table I have two nice Bose speakers connected to my computer. Next to my computer I have a Sony Discman and my I-Pod so I can switch between all three by simply switching connections. So if I buy a new CD I will simply plug the discman in and off I go. All my music within reach.

In my car. One of my jobs is in northern Ky. I don't have to listen to my sons griping, and sometimes I don't get on the road til 3am. I can crank it up, and hit the cruise control. It's just the road, the music, and me.

It's kinda of amazing that hardly anyone listens to music on a good system anymore. Car stereos, I-pods, computers, Discman, ect., is there any wonder why CDs sound like sh*t anymore. Why make a quality product that sonically sounds good, if most of people listening to the music are going to listen on a sh*t system to begin with. Things have certainly changed since the days when having a good sounding stereo system was an important thing to have. Kinda sad, that a lot of people nowadays will never know how good their music could sound. Truth is, it doesn't have to cost that much, but people got to insist on the best, quality over quanity, but if people are happy with just hearing the music, but not at it's best, then what should you expect, beyond lowest common denominator, cause that's all you're going to get. Btw, I know I'm being a butthole, but then again I know how good recorded music can sound. Unfortunately, I think a lot of you that just don't get it, and will certainly never hear it. Kinda sad, because y'all don't know what you're missing.

I couldn't have said it better (you are not a butthole) My best sound system is in my car which is a Bose surround system...and I try to listen when I can dedicate some non-interrupted time) Too bad it is 4000 lbs. and gets 19 mpg. Nothing like blasting music on a summer day.
