I had no idea that Duane was in the touring band until I saw a Soul Stew gig on 7/3. (I also had no idea I was talking to their mother, who had Derek and Susan's kids with her, on the lawn at that gig until she said something about some t-shirts she had bought for her son Duane, and motioned toward the stage- my jaw just about dropped on the ground. Here I just wanted to compliment this woman on the Joni Mitchell T she was wearing, since I had never seen anything like that before...met nearly the entire Trucks clan that night- including Derek, after the show...hell of a night, incredible night).

All right, I'm sorry about the thread hijack. But this is one incredible family, y'all.

Was last night Duane Trucks' 18th birthday??????
When it was mentioned, Yonrico got up from his kit and went over and hugged Duane wildly.
So cool.

Duane told me last night it was not his Birthday! LOL! He said that it's in Dec and he'll be 20! Derek was just having some fun, laughs and smiles!

Duane is a good egg! He was strummin' some Stairway to Heaven...

They need this bro in the band full time. If you check out Derek just right over his front shoulder at the show, it looks like the man is keeping the beat for his own guitar. I say bring Duane on fall dTb tour. He completes the band.

perhaps he is helping Yonrico out. The man did have major heart surgery and with the extensive touring and travel a second drum may allow him to relax a bit and not play so much

Gotta agree with Holt here. Rico needs no help. dTb is perfect as is. Maybe Duane can work for the Susan Tedeschi Band.

I've seen Duane quite a bit when he comes out around his birthday and plays with the band for the last few years in December and with SSR. I don't know what it is, but he adds something. I can't put my finger on it. I also liked the addition of Marc to the Allman's when they had 2 on percussion already. Can't explain that either. Duane seems to be the type of drummer that demands little and only adds what is missing. This may sound crazy, but when he came out with dTb and played a few songs a couple years back and then left, something left with him. It completed the sound. I don't know the guy and I say this only to enhance my own concert going experiences. Obviously, this is no disrespect to Rico. He is absolutely sick and extremely diverse. When Duane is there, it may be that Rico can focus on his multiple talents (and percussion toys) while Duane keeps a steady beat. He looks like Butch back there driving that train.
