Great show tonight. I hung out with Brian Farmer {Warrens tech} and got to talk to Warren, and the band after the show. Warren really seemed pumped up about the upcoming ABB shows. He said that Gregg is feeling much better now which was great news. He
was also very saddened by Bill's passing. I copied this setlist from Mule army as I never write sets down. Cortez was a great closer.

I'll happily echo Mulehead by saying great show!

It was an outdoor and the weather was perfect. My brother Bananaman drove down to see this one with me so I was in good company. The place was packed. I have never been to a show at the LC where the outdoor pavillion was as full as it was last night. It was a very enthusiastic capacity crowd.

The band was really on last night. Nice setlist. Warren did some slide work on a Black Gibson SG which I've never seen him use on previous shows. (Well maybe he has but this was a first for me). He also played a 12 string Les Paul for one song. (Another first for me. )

Awesome version of Cortez the Killer. And I'm wondering if Warren and the boys have ever covered the Velvet Underground before. That was a treat !

We got there too late to catch Tea Leaf Green but we heard several folks talking positively about their set.

I wish I would have stopped at two beers. I have to work today. No hangover but I am a bit groggy. It was well worth it however.

Several tapers were there so this one will be available for home listening. If this appears on Dime, I promise to offer it up as a vine.

OK. Off to work. See ya all later...

What a great show last night!...The venue was full, weather perfect and the music even better.

I too am a bit slow at work this morning after standing all night and then our drive back to Cincy got us home about 1 AM... but was it worth it.

As you can probably tell by my screen name... I loved When the Levee Breaks jam in the middle of I Think You Know What I Mean.

Several firsts there for thedeadhead and I as well... Tea Leaf Green for one... we loved that set and Josh Clark is fantastic... the black SG and 12 string also firsts for us. The Beatles piece was full of great riffs and a nice vocal... another highlight for me was starting the second set with theTalking Heads... i could name that tune on the second note ...Talking about the show on the way home, Matt reminded me that Warren is a few months younger than I am and that we apparently have the same taste in music...that made me smile.

Also, we had a great time hanging out with Krishna and Scott on the rail in front of Warren last night...It was good to see Dana again... i ran into him near a beer line (go figure)...

Looking forward to seeing some of you again at the Dickey show on 8/2...

Now I better get back to work... today I celebrate 25 years of marrage to the wonderful mother of my two children and i need to get home...

Life is Good...

It looks like a great set list and from the photos on mule.net, it does indeed look like it was a full jam packed house. Excellent.

Happy Anniversary Jim.

Does anyone know if Warren played the 12 string on That's Why I'm Here? That would be my guess for that. Also, was it a lengthy version or just a verse or two? The band's done that song (a James Taylor song) in the past but only as a lead in with two made up verses as an intro to Soulshine. I'm curious to know if he did the whole song as JT wrote it.

I just got back from Columbus an hour ago. Yesterday I made the 100+ mile ride on my Harley up there, and stayed at my sis's house last night. My nephew saw his first Mule show. He was totally blown away.Another Mule convert! As always, Tea Leaf Green were fantastic. One of the things I really love about the Mule is their merchandise. Not as overpriced as most bands, although I did spend over $100 this time. The tickets were only $5 though. I now own 17 Mule shirts dating back to 95.I watched the show from the front rail in front of Danny Louis last night. Danny has been such a great add to this band.He is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.He turned down the keyboard job in the Max Weinburg 7 [Conan O'Brians house band] to play with the Mule.I wish I could have ran into you all, but I'm glad you found each other.

Also a big Happy Anniversary to you Ledhead. I wish I could have ran into you, and Deadhead last night. It was nice to meet you guys at Derek, and Susan's show a couple weeks ago!!

I have a buddy up in Columbus who attended last night's show. He sent me a bunch of pictures via my cell, but I can't open them for some reason, so I sent him an email asking him to send them to me via email. A lot easier for old men lost in this gadget filled world.

We made the trek down from Cleveland for the show.
Very solid Mule show and I really enjoyed Tea Leaf Green.
It was great to see all the people who came out. Maybe some others at the show could estimate the crowd size, but I have to say in the 5000 range. The lawn was full, and the pit area was pretty tight at the end. I am sure the $5 ticket price helped.
See you all in Cleveland on the 31st.

I've seen quite a few shows there in the last few years and that was without a doubt, the largest. I'm thinking 5,000 would be a safe bet, maybe even a bit more.

Hope The Mule gained a few new fans who came in just for the $5.00 tickets.

$5.00 tickets!!! For the Mule! I love Warren and the guys and their music but this is something I respect in them - they continue to put on the most outstanding shows and their ticket prices are always so reasonable (the $5 thing had to be a fluke - I'm talking even without that bargain). To me, they're all about the music.

Yes, yes, yes! A splendid time was had by all! And, indeed ...I ran into 'bro-led' and his son Matt....near the imfamous 'beer line'. I had ONE! hahahah! I was with the teenagers....my daughter and two of her O.U. friends so I had to set a good example...and I had heartburn from a pizza eaten earlier. I remarked to a guy--my age--sitting nearby on the hill that when I was my daughter's age....I popped 'acid' at rock concerts like last nite. Now, at my current age.....I pop 'Rolaids' FOR the 'acid' ....'reflux'!!!

Perfect analysis above of the show.....would certainly also add and say..."Here, here--bravo!" to Warren's political stance taken on probably 3 occasions last nite. He skewered ole "W" a couple of times. The cardboards signs that guitar tech Brian held up were hysterical.....reminded me of that old Dylan video with Allan Ginsberg holding up the lyrics to the song. John Lennon was standing to the side altho' you don't see him full face and wouldn't know it was him. Oh well.....I digress! A great show....makes 3 in a couple of weeks.....SOULSTEW, RINGO and 'da MULE'. Now......we wait for OCTOBER!

OH YEA....might add that I ran into guitarist Columbus John Boerstler after the show. John has been the topic of a few posts on here over the years. He played in APB--Artimus Pyle Band--with the original lineup including vocalist Daryl Smith. And, of course, Mr. Woody played in that band towards the end as well back in the early 80's. I grew up with John in Wilmington, OH....and have played a few tunes with him over the years....as Allen Woody told me one time in Cincy...."Boerstler is one of the best guitar players I've EVER heard." That was right after he'd walked off the stage with Warren AND Dickey. Nuff said! He plays around Columbus with the Hoodoo Soul Band, and Men of Leisure if they're still together....and another new band...can't remember the name...sorry.
