Just talk about your favorites, up and comers, concerts, etc.

First off I listened to the new Mellencamp CD online today and enjoyed it. T-Bone Burnett produced it so it has a kind of rootsy feel to it but its still good. Is he playing any of the new songs live and IMO this is 2 good albums in a row for him.

I just bought the T-Bone best of called Twenty-Twenty. 2 discs with 20 songs on each. I had enjoyed him more than Plant/Kraus (who were good) when I went to that show. I like old Mellancamp so I'll check the last 2 out.

I'm learning how to play Statesboro Blues on my bass.

It's good fun to play Fillmore East, and play along with the band.

I've fallen into a group of pretty laid back guys to play music with a couple of times a month - very refreshing. I've slipped in Melissa, Statesboro Blues, and Key to the Highway so far, have teased One Way Out and You Don't Love Me. Nothing like playing music with a good group of folks.

Listening to Derek from July 7th. I am always amazed that I can take a song he has played thousands of times yet it still sounds funky, and great

I think I'm going to miss Mule when they play right down the street from me this Sunday. I have to go out of town the next morning, really really early. We'll see.

I am going to catch Keb Mo, though, which I'm pretty stoked about.

Keb Mo is a personal favorite of mine. I was bummed I missed his show last summer but I have a feeling he'll be back in town eventually

Never seen him live, but really looking forward to it. I may go see New Riders of the Purple Sage too. Why not?

Just missed Tinsley Ellis when he played right up the street from me because I've been so busy with work and trying to finish up home painting project.

They do indeed. I saw them a few years ago at the Stone Pony, and they put on a very good show.

It's good. Have you seen them in concert? One of my favorite acts to see...they really turn it up.

I really like these guys! Haven't heard the new one yet but it's gotten some good reviews that I've read. Saw them live a couple of times and they really put on a great show (once as opener for Santana where he came out and jammed with them - very tasty!)

That's unfortunate. I don't think I knew they were touring together - don't know how I missed that. I think he's amazingly talented and really like his stuff. Although it is a stretch having him actually play with Mule - very different styles.

A few days ago I heard a song on KPIG that I knew had to be Derek. No one else sounds like him.

Turns out it was "Pleasant Gardens" from "Out of the Madness."

How bout that pig?!

BTW, anyone who likes to hear Jimmy Herring and Derek together should go put on OOTM now.
