Ted's always been a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. Love his early albums but no time for his world view. Live, he's always rockin' and it's easy enough to just laugh at his lunatic ravings. Last night however was way beyond the pale!
A great show, really loud and clear and featuring all the classics along with snippets from You Really Got Me and My Girl. and covers of Bo Diddley and Johnny Be Good. Then Ted feels the need to start talking about n*ggers. He trys to qualify this by screaming that He, Ted is also a n*gger...albeit a n*gger with a job!!! Now I'm not saying that Ted is a racist. A buffoon and a clown for sure. He praised James Brown, The Temptations, Bo and Chuck to the high heavens but why come out with the other crap? Totally unnecessary and just makes him look even more of an **** than usual.

I have to say, I just find that funny. Definitely, he doesn't mind making trouble for himself.

I hope he is sanctioned at least as severely as the Dixie Chicks were when they made a fairly mild statement in England about the President. Does any US station give him airplay anyway?

I always liked Nugent as much as the next guy, athough I've given up on him in the last several yrs. I've seen Ted about 1/2 dozen times and I can appreciate a guy coming out each night and playing a guitar as loud and hard as he possibly can, but for sure Ted has always been pretty much full of chit.........Peace......joe

I can tolerate Ted's hunting show, but he made a disparaging remark about Kurt Cobain after Kurt offed himself that I didn't appreciate, and since then, when I hear him speak, I hear, "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH."

I like some of his earlier music, but otherwise I have always thought he was a loud mouth @sshole. Now I know he's a biggot too. I don't think I'll be going to see this dinosaur ever again.

I actually met the Nuge at an NRA picnic in Marietta, Ga a couple of years ago.

A family friend was in charge of the event and I was able to share a meal with him and Ted and others.

I was surprized at how different his behind- the- seen personality was from his public persona when he is "on".

I found him to be very likeable and pleasant.

A guilty pleasure indeed, Keith - you kept that one quiet beforehand!

Where was it?

LOL Well I would wouldn't I Gordon? It was at the Indigo and I'm not sure I would have gone if my mates' band had not been opening and put me on the guest list. Just read your Little Feat review . Have to say I really liked the venue, my first visit also. I was downstairs. No seats, a great sound and a good view from everywhere. 4 quid for a pint is pushing it tho'

Downstairs at Indigo2 is fine. Upstairs - "Kings Row VIP" - is another matter.

It just didn't feel like a gig- it was like going from a hotel lounge bar into an upmarket cinema.

I'll be going downstairs in future!

Ted just speaks his mind and tells it how he see's it. Sometimes he is right on with it and hard core, other times he is just radical and over the top. But he does not back down from what he belives and does not kiss any a$$. Thats fine with me. If you don't like it don't listen.

Apples and oranges, The Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed to be from the same state as the President, and were blacklisted from a few radio stations which was pretty petty (if you're referring to another incident let me know). I think Ted's remarks are a little more universally inflammatory (unless you're a bigot), Michael Richards' public meltdown is probably a little more applicable.

I was going to see Ted a couple of weeks ago at the Canyon Club in Augora until I found out tickets were $75+ the fee. I love the King Of Gonzo but NFW. As for him saying the N word, Ted just doesn't get it sometimes.

Here's to Double Live Gonzo. That's plenty of Ted for me.

pops42 just about said it all for me. I saw Ted when I was a kid, must've been 1976. He was an assh*le then, and he's an assh*le now. Oh yeah..........."Ted Nugent" (1975) was a good hard rock record. I never heard anything else he ever did solo that was any good, and even on that record, singer Derek St. Holmes deserved a lot of the credit, which Nugent refused to give to him.
