Anybody know the story behind this picture?

I don't believe there is a story..

Where are Linda's teeth?

In her mouth, attached to her gums. They're extremely visable in this picture, by the way.

Is this suppossed to be a flattering photo?

Linda Ronstadt is a singer, not a model. Why should it matter what she looks like? Her purpose is to create music for you, not erections.

Wow, what climbed up your ass?

Clearly Linda is at least missing teeth in her lower mouth.

It looks to me like maybe she was chewing gum and her tongue and the chewing gum are blocking the view of some teeth.

btw, Linda Ronstadt was absolutely beautiful back in the 70's, and may still be for all I know. Havent seen a picture of her in quite a while.

I'm not a chick. I'm a music fan. I'm just someone bothered by people who think that female singers have to be beautiful. That's the reason why the biggest names in music nowadays are hacks like Britney Spears and Fergie. Due to attitudes similar to your own, JaminRebel, someone like, say, Janis Joplin or Aretha Franklin would be unable to make a decent career singing music in current times, despite what talents they may posess. If teenager girls watching MTV don't want to look like the female artist or teenage boys watching MTV don't masturbate to the female artist, they are usually not picked up by major labels and their music remains unappreciated and unheard by the majority of people.

Really what you are doing is being POLITICALLY CORRECT. It never even crossed my mind that Linda wasn't BEAUTIFUL in this picture.

If you need a podium from which to spout your speeches then find one.

I'm a big fan of Lucinda Williams and what an awful singer she can be at times. And she's often quite goofy, as in her older video footage. Still I think she has made some great music and I have ton of her shows.

Also, I'm a big fan of Susan Tedeschi and she is no looker and I have a ton of her shows.

I have a bunch of Linda Rondstadt shows as well.

Dude, you may not be a CHICK but you have her AGENDA.

So either get a sex change or tone down your political correctness.

You have PROJECTED your IDEAS upon my INNOCENT post.

Get a GRIP dude.

Or simply take your CRUSADE to another thread cause I wasn't dogging Linda Ronstadt in any way.

Oh and I have vined many shows by Susan Tedeschi, Linda Ronstadt and Ludinda Williams.

I dig female vocals and female songwriting.

I'm also a huge fan of Sade.

And I have three Kelly Clarkson shows.

I got some Pat Benetar, lots of 70's Fleetwood Mac.

Lots of women on vinyl.

I'm sorry. I must be mistaken. I thought you posted an entire topic devoted to question "is this picture supposed to be flattering."

It's not an issue of politcal correctness, JaminRebel. I never had an agenda, as you say. It just bugs me that you make a topic about how a picture of someone doesn't meet your expectations. If you made a thread titled "Linda Ronstadt sucks, and here are the reasons why she sucks," I would have no problem, even if you included that picture as an addition reason as a joke. I just think it's better to discuss someone's merits as a musician than to discuss if they had an unflattering picture on a magazine, that's all.

Maybe I was wrong in guessing that you were interested more in a singers looks than voice, but I still think it's stupid to discuss a magazine cover and not a person's body of work.

Ok PID08, here's my list of females who sing and write music. Put your opinions about masturbation and SEX to bed please. You are really off base. But then too I'm as much of a pig as a lot of guys. I'm only human.

Nice try PID08, but you TRIED to be cool at the last minute.

I SAW THAT.

PID08 posted "STYX SUCKS"

I find that a lot of folks feel that way. I think the "Kilroy Was Here" lp forever killed any grand legacy that Styx was going to have. Nevertheless, I am enjoying their live shows that I have recently collected. I've tripled my Styx collection. What SUCKS about what happened to STYX was how Dennis De Young became FIXATED on milking the whole "Paradise Theater" image. Dennis was obviously very proud of the band's concept albums, notably "The Grand Illusion" and "Paradise Theater." They milked those images to death live while dropping many great Styx songs or never playing some at all.

The Styx albums that I have are:

Pieces of Eight, which I like a LOT but do not play a lot.

And Styx: Caught in the Act, which has many great live song versions.

A trader is sending me copies of "Equinox" and "Crystal Ball."

Anyway, I think Dennis De Young and Tommy Shaw wrote great songs and were good vocalists. James Young is great at playing the bad ass screming songs.

I think it's a shame that they are now an embarrassment to many. It was the very weird "Kilroy Was Here" lp that have come to overshadow every good song and album that the band ever made.

Quite SUDDENLY Styx was SUDDENLY very UNCOOL and FOOLISH.

Geez, the band tried to push a project onto the public that wasn't accepted. The band still has a great catalouge of music.

Lately I have enjoyed hearing live versions of:

Lady
Loreli
Sweet Madmouselle
Light Up
Borrowed Time
Crystal Ball--------- always a fav.

I really tire of:

COME SAIL AWAY
Babe
The Grand Illusion, seems the band was hell bent to play this live.
Fooling Yourself----------- again got a lot of radio play and live play.

This being said I just purchased TWO STYX BIOGRAPHIES.

On is Chuch Panozzo's book. He's the GAY bass player. Really, he's GAY and lving with aids. He hasn't toured regularly with the band for years. The book is more of feel good coming out story for Chuch. I got the book for $1.36 plus shipping. The other book is an unauthroized biography. It cost about $12 plus shipping. I picked both books up at the same time on Amazon.com. Actually I haven't completed the transaction but I am going to.

As for James Young, the other guitarist from the OLDEST days of Styx, he kicks ass on guitar and vocals on Miss America, and many older Styx songs. He also had a vocal for a newer Styx song called "Heavy Water" which isn't bad. James Young also had big vocal on "Snowblind". JY is great.

The guy who took Dennis De Young's place has a heavy accent. Personally I don't enjoy his vocals that much. It takes some getting used to.

JR, I'm going to back you up on this one. The picture looks like she is missing at least one tooth on the top and bottom, almost like she was done up like a hillbilly. I knew that was the reason you posted it, and it had nothing to do with all the bullsh*t PID went off about. I think he jumped to a conclusion, or possibly has poor comprehension skills, and a need for a soapbox. .

Also, I'm a big fan of Susan Tedeschi and she is no looker and I have a ton of her shows.

I too am offended! Susan is good looking, and also has the musical goods, as does Ms Ronstadt. It is a curious choice of images, and I see nothing wrong w/ the question Dean. Now take it back about Susan!

Here is a Linda Ronstadt story for you. When I was in 5th grade we were learning how to write letters. As part of the assignment we had to write a letter to someone. I was listening to Linda back then, so I decided to write a letter to her care of Asylum records. In the letter I said I was a big fan of Linda and was requesting an autographed photo. What I got in return was a black and white photo. What do you call it, a PR photo. No autograph, but I did get a reply. To make matters more embarrassing the my teacher said any replies had to be brought into school and shared with the class. Naturally I did and my teacher thought it was cool. Best grade school teacher I had Mr. Pouliot. Please keep in mind I was only 11. It would be another three years before i discovered the Allman Brothers Band.

Linda Ronstadt is a singer, not a model. Why should it matter what she looks like? Her purpose is to create music for you, not erections.
I don't recall if she caused erections, but I'm here to tell you, as an adolescent boy, I though Linda was to die for.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I see a beautiful woman when Susan smiles.

PID08, you must be a chick.

Lots of ravenous angry chicks on this website looking to shred

Shred away.

Susan's nice
