Is this correct??? 10 tickets less than 20?

Uhhh...I copied and pasted what Brent sent to me. I bet he meant 10 tickets for $110 and 20 tickets for $130.

Either one of those prices is a bargain. The price listed for 20 is really a bargain!

Yes. Big Boss Man is playing on Halloween at the nicest place we play. (We're also there on NYE.) One of my personal quirks is that I'm not a Halloween fan, but that'll be a big business night for the club no matter what this little bass player thinks...

Glad to see this thread, but I was curious if it was going to be rescheduled around the time of the Oak Mt show. Doesn't look that way and I imagine all involved have already done a lot of work to make it happen. Looks like my wife & I are coming in for the Oak Mt show. It's the day before our wedding anniversary. My wife is also a huge racing fan, grew up with it, by the Pocono track and it's always been her wish to hit Talladega, which is Sunday 10/5. When I told her about the ABB/Phil show, she started making plans. Looks like were goin' racin' and hitting some good music too. I can't complain about that a bit, it's quite the anniversary present to each other. Too bad it's not JFD week, but we still hope to see you folks at the show and maybe even get a chance to pick a few with Brent, Big Dave and the rest.

Last year just felt so special. We didn't know it would be the last JFD that Bill would attend, but it just felt so good. If you were there, you know what I mean.

I hope to make it this year.

I see Brent and Michael "finally" connected!

I really want to be there. Flights are outrageous out of Boston to B'Ham...they went thru the roof compared to last year... perhaps Atlanta may be cheaper??? I hope!

Unfortunately, that was the last time I saw Bill, although we spoke and/or e-mailed a few times afterwards. I wish I would have made the NYE show in ATL now.

I'm certain that the jams held this year will have as much fire, if not more, as last years jams, as we'll all be hittin' the note while we're thinking of Bill.

But how about....BERRY D. OAKLEY?? DUANE TRUCKS?? MICHAEL ALLMAN?? I wonder if we'll see any other ABB offspring at this years jam? Stay tuned...

Some random thoughts.....
Plane tickets are generally SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper to Atlanta. Perhaps some of the brothers and sisters coming from that way could co-ordinate to pick folks up at Hartsfield.

As to scheduling....football and racing are major concerns here. No way to get any form of discount on rooms on Talladega weekend. Brent has already paid out a bundle on rooms for the bands, and at substantial discount. Not available on all weekends. Also, Alabama, Auburn, and Jacksonville State football schedules are very important. The previous weekend was seriously considered, but discarded due to Ala. vs Tenn. It's always something.

Brent is busting his butt on this, as he always does. He tries to provide us a little time of joy in this journey through life. Works his tail off, deals with the emotional ups and downs, tries to plan things out. Nobody realizes what goes on behind the scenes.....the disappointments, let-downs, dealing with jerks occasionally, trying to co-ordinate with people around the country.

And never forget motivation. What does Brent get out of it? Money? Not hardly. He will no doubt go in to his own pocket, as he has done every year. This is about keeping alive the memory and legacy of the man who birthed all this. And about setting aside a little time for us to get together and be happy.

Right, Bupp, this is a labor of love on Brent's part. I, for one, appreciate the hell out of it.

One more point....
The address for the Sports Page is wrong....the 4th Street location burned last year.
The current address is on Broad Street. It's in the next block past Blackstone, on the other side. Plenty of parking, always a consideration. The venue has a nice sound system which will be augmented by equipment generously donated for the weekend. I think we gotta' let the guy play For some of the old family, there's a direct connection between the owner, Zel Tidmore, and Scooter Herring. Mr. Tidmore generously donated his facility for the Hayseed Christmas Party.

Sheep, we understand. It will be good to have you in our area. You might want to consider staying in Gadsden for Talladega, lots of folks do. We're about 40 miles away.
Usually some music going on all over town that weekend too.

One other event bears mentioning--
For 24 years now, a group of good ol' boys here has put on an event called the Charity Pig Roast. They raise money to buy Christmas for needy kids in the area, 100% of cash flow goes for gifts. It's a free event, they raise money from selling food and drinks, all of which is donated. Along with a bike ride, usually 500-1000 bikes, and a golf tournament.
This year it will be August 23 and features Lefty Collins, The Skydogs, Highly Kind, many others.

George's phone number has been changed, several folks been trying to get in touch.
If anybody has access, please let him know. We would of course love to have him.

Also be aware there's ongoing stuff behind the scenes. Conversation with others. May lead nowhere. But so far, we got an Allman, an Oakley, and a Trucks (not Hand).
