Personally, after 5 mins, I'm about ready to keel over.
Have never enjoyed it. Never seemed to be able to grasp the
whole sweating it out sitting around with a bunch of naked
old folk.

For those interested:

Not me.

Last time I tried one I was at a hotel and had just finished working out in the gym and thought it would be a good idea to take a little sauna, then shower up and go to dinner. I guess the idea just sounded good. Well, after a couple of minutes, I thought I was going to vomit and possibly pass out, which of course led me to imagine all sorts of ridiculous scenarios of being found hours later, naked on the floor of a sauna in a hotel in a foreign country. Who knows what type of international incident could have spun out of that? So, I got out of there and went to bar and got loaded. Crisis averted.

I shan't be saunaing any time soon again. I'll stick to the pool.

If I want hot and humid with swollen ankles, I'll just walk outside - it's about 85 and really humid here today. HATE saunas.

Sort of related . . . you've probably seen a post or two about my recent move.

The master bedroom of our new apartment includes a jacuzzi easily big enough for two.

You're looking at one happy Droogie.

Guess the Finnish people won't agree. It's part of their living style.

Personally I like it very much, just not too often. (No, I'm not from Finland).
When I go to a sauna it's mostly a rather large complex. Several sauna's, several baths, bar/restaurant. On a friday night there are easily more than 100 people, young & old, somethimes even kids with there parents, mail & female.

It's a nice way to relax and get rid of the stress.

I go to dry saunas after my work outs about 3 times a week for 10 min at a time. I love it.

Have you ever heard anyone pronounce it "SOWna"?
I've always said SAWna and I always will.

There used to be a dry sauna at one of the gyms I went to. I like the dry heat but with high blood pressure I can't get into the whirlpool spas. As for the sauna I always thought it felt good to sweat. Sweating was fun but some of the dudes that came into the sauna naked and without towels and all, well that was pretty freaky. I remember a couple of those old dudes. One acted a little "funny" for my way of thinking. There was an old short fat black dude too. He was a funny guy but I wish he could have worn something, anything.

I like a dry heat sauna though. It may be bad for my skin but it doesn't matter. That gym closed a long time ago. All I have now is machines and freeweights. My latest and last gym Superfitness sold out to Bailey's. Every gym I have ever been a member of here in Jax, FL has either closed it's doors or they've been sold or bought out.

I'm hoping Bailey's is better than Superfitness. My club could use some new faces.
