When the market CRASHES and you are broke and I have my money, I might lend you some. The warning signs are out there and if you ignore them, you will get burned. Talk to me in 12 months and we will see where the dust settles. By the way, gold was UP $2 today, how did your stocks do?

I guess that's why they call it gambling. Good luck on your stocks though.

The market will bounce back as it always does. Everyone was all upset a few months ago when the sub prime mess screwed with the market.
Traditionally the market does this type of thing on a run up to a general election, granted the oil mess has helped but it will settle down.

Don't gamble with your future by keeping your money in the stock market. You might as well go to vegas and let it ride, that would be much more fun than letting these jokers on wall street screw you over. I also swithced my party affiliation to Independent. I won't be voting this fall either. There is not a candidate or party worthy of the presidency.

Um, how's all that gonna work out next April 15th? My wife completely cashed out her 401k a few years ago and we owed Uncle Sam out the a$$ for it...

It will be bad, the money is subject to a 10% penalty, and then withdrawing it is a taxable event, so it's taxed, federal and state. Easily 40% of your portfolio goes poof. Sheesh. Worst idea ever.

This type of panic, in my experience would suggest the end of the cycle is near. As more capitulate and run the buying opportunities are many. Gold is a great hedge as long as it has value (pure demand and supply) because you can't sleep in it, eat it and it does not produce any income so your bet is world collapse - hope your wrong!

This is a terrific plan. I absolutely encourage you to put all of your assets in one investment. History has shown us that diversification is a scam, dreampt up by those crazy Wall Street jokers and being fully invested in one asset class is the right way to do it. At least, that's where all the smart money goes. You're going to be so rich.

Now is the time to buy, or start averaging in. With the S&P down 20% off the highs most of the risk has already been taken out. People want to buy when things go on sale, but not stocks. They run for the exits....Weird.

If things crash that bad what value will gold have? Will people have cash for your gold? Is not the main use still in jewelery making?

Hey, when people can't afford to eat or put a roof over their heads, what is the first thing they do? Why, they go out and buy the little lady a nice pair of gold earrings.
LMAO!!!

When one company like Baer Stearns can practically bring the whole thing down, we are in more trouble then they will let on. When the Fed has to GIVE JP Morgan 30 some Billion to make a buy out so the market doesn't crash, that isn't a good sign. When the stock market crashed in the 20's, no one ever thought that could happen. This thing is a house of cards and if one terrorist attack or one company can bring this country to the brink, we are in big trouble. Gold will hold when everything else fails.

It's no secret that the fed bailed this thing out so the market wouldn't crash. Trust me, there are lots of companies just like Bear Stearns, who is going to be next and when will the house of cards fall?

Yes, JPB, I am aware of what happened with Bear Stearns I was just interested in seeing where you got some of your information like the $30+ million gift from the federal govt to JP Morgan, your absolute certainity that the BS downfall would have brought the entire market down, and how gold investments will be the magic glue that keep everything together. It seemed as if you were quoting facts you had read somewhere, I just wanted to see your sources.

Under the deal, the Federal Reserve will provide special financing and has agreed to fund up to $30 billion of Bear Stearns' less liquid assets.

"In doing our due diligence, that was an area we needed to get comfort upon, some of the more illiquid assets on the balance sheet," JPMorgan chief financial officer Michael Cavanaugh said on a conference call late on Sunday. "We couldn't be in stronger hands than to be arranged for financing through the Federal Reserve, with no recourse to JPM Chase."

Sorry, I meant BILLION not Million. On top of that, JP Morgan has NO RISK in this transaction. Can I get a loan like that from the Fed?

A Don Harrold v.s. Jim Cramer (who granted, did provide some questionable advice re: BS) discourse (he said/he said). I think the conspiricy fears and paranoia will exacberate the problems.
