I hope this comes across the right way. I have been listening to talk radio whenever I am driving or near the radio...all the stations play the same ol' same ol' and I hardly like any new stuff. I look at my CD collection blankly and give up. I still have my staple CD's like LAFE and some Dead, Neil Young and Beck CD's but I need something new! Help!!! It's kind of like an old married couple!!!

Never!!! My problem is that I don't have enough time to listen to everything. I have bootlegs that I have had for years that I haven't listened to yet. Lately I've been so into the ABB family related bands that a lot of other music I love gets neglected. Seeing Santana recently as well as Pearl Jam has gotten them back into my rotation. Also have been dipping into some Led Zep.

Stu, you gotta try this . . . . . . .

http://www.pandora.com

type in some of your lesser listened to stuff & they will play similar genre music

If you want a couple of suggestions to try,
enter Robben Ford,
or Roy Rogers & the Delta Rythym Kings

There are a lot of great unknowns (to me anyways), and I have learned of several artists that would have never been on my radar

Oh, and to reply to your question,

Nope

I love Pandora! I guess I should have said that I don't have the excitement that I usually do with music. Maybe it is the other stress. I will never give up on music...believe me!

Yeah, there are times when music can strike an emotional chord with me...and I'll stay away.

Within a day or two though, the Music is cranked up to eleven.

Stu, if all I had to listen to was WRKR all of the time, I'd feel the same way.

Funny Terri! Us rednecks here out in the country can't get many stations! I was hoping for some new recommendations with this post so you highbrow city folk better get posting.

Go to www.hittinthenote.com and subscribe to their magazine, which is published four time a year. If anyone needed their music listening suggestions, sounds like you.

I get bored from time to time with music but never tired.

If u like Neil Young check out Built To Spill, and early Wilco and Sky Blue Sky

OK Stu, since you're listening: From the latest issue of Hittin' The Note, which I just received a few days ago, here's a few which got rave reviews which I'd be interested in picking up soon myself:

"Lovers", Bobby Whitlock and CoCo Carmel (yes, THAT Bobby Whitlock, of Derek and The Dominoes, along with his girlfriend Carmel on sax and vocals)
"Loaded", The Wood Brothers (Chris Wood, of Medeski, Martin and Wood, and his elder brother Oliver)
"Seven Moons", Jack Bruck and Robin Trower (these two together, what else needs to be said?)
"Same Old Man", John Hiatt ("a guy who's only the same in that he's always fantastic")

Thanks man, I can't get into Wilco, don't know why. I'll try the others though.

Since Larry McCray just sat in with Mule, check out his most recent CD if you need some blues. I bought mine at Wanee, but its in my car and I can't remember the title. Check his website.

I've heard a couple of tunes from the new CD by My Morning Jacket that I liked.

I also like the new CD by James Hunter. Blue-eyed soul/R&B done by a Brit...and well done at that!

And for some fun, a new CD by The Hold Steady comes out a week from Tuesday. I saw them in concert a few weeks ago and they were wicked fun and highly energetic. I'd call some of their songs a cross between the Ramones and Bruce Springsteen. Catch them in concert if you get the chance.

AND...make sure you go see Tinsley Ellis at the Kalamazoo Blues Festival next Saturday. I got my first dose of TE at Wanee and he's awesome! He posts here as HeartFixer57.

I Swore this was going to be one of thoses trick question threads or something.
Don't believe I've ever used the words "sick" and "music" in the same sentence!
I take that back. I have been sick of the music played on radio for 25 years or so.

Well, I keep a pretty low profile here most of the time, so I thought I would stir up some trouble for my own benefit.

I wish! However, I will be at a music festival out here Thursday through Sunday. I'm volunteering on Friday and Saturday, so I get in for FREE!
