SantaCruzBluz mentioned that there were some great players on this forum. I would love to know who they are and listen to their music. Off the top of my head, I can think of BlueSky12. he is a great dobro player. I enjoy listening to his music on myspace. At the School of the Blues where Allen and I go, there is a guitarist my age whose name is Phil. He is a huge Robben Ford fan and a very good guitar player. I like jamming with him. Who else on this forum is damn good?

Taylor, I really like Phil's playing, too. Very soulful. He's just 16. The two of you together is a pretty slick team.

I can tell you from my own ears that goldtop (Ron) lives in San Jose and fronts a great band that plays around the Bay Area, and sheep (Seth) lives in Scotts Valley, and he is an excellent player. Ron has staged a tribute to Duane Allman a few times, and played the "assumed" setlist from the last night at the Fillmore East.

There are lots of others that I know about, but that I've not heard play, so I'll let the others tell you about them.

You should also check out the "Shop Talk" section of the forum, in the "Show Your Ax" thread, where some of the players have posted pictures of their guitars. In fact, you might want to post a picture of yours. I bet no one else has one!

He is very soulful. I have never heard him mess up. Unlike myself. I pretty much mess up every time I take a solo. especially the first two I did at the School of the Blues jam session. I was so scared! lol

In no particular order - guitar players that I know from this site:

skyponydogboy - Brent fronts the Skydogs. Great Duane-influenced blues-ABB covers. Played at my party last Saturday!

Leftyblues - Lefty typically fronts the No Mercy Band (featuring another killer picker, JP Vancura). Lefty recently (like yesterday) moved down her to Alabammer, where he plans to steal our jobs and women.

skydogsys - Not sure if I got his user name right, but Barry is bad to the bone! Another heavily ABB influenced picker. I remember at the last JFD Kim Payne said how much he enjoyed Barry's playing style. Kim's been around a couple of pretty good guitarists in his time.

Hasija - Jon plays some mighty fine blues - Texas via Kansas City a la Allman. That sounded pretty fancy, didn't it? A great guy, too!

Bluedad - John can stand in there with the best of 'em. Very tasteful player, doesn't over-play. A fine addition to any party - just don't leave your sheep unattended around him (inflatable or otherwise).

Matt Barranti

Donna Hopkins

Matt plays some great slide guitar and is one of my favorites around here.....Donna is one of the finest blues players I've heard plus she can sing with the best of them and writes some great songs....Dusty Sommers is a great acoustic blues man.......and although I've never heard him play Mark May has toured through this area and left some magic because I've heard many a fine word about his playing...

It's amazing how many people here play at such a high level......

Thank you again Duane

I don't know if I can consider myself "dam good" at all, but I am a guitar player and play seriously and have been for many years. My band's cd will be out this fall, I'll post a couple of songs when I get a chance and am at home (not at work).

Ok, I don't really consider myself "damn good", but people who've seen me play have enjoyed my playing (so I've been told).

There's also a cat in Macon that signs on here as "Goliath" that I have heard can pick a little.

And BigDaveOnBass's name says it all.

Oh, and EasyMichael is a low-ender, too.

Then there is Tinsley Ellis, one of the greatest blues guitar players anywhere. He posts here sometimes. I guess you weren't asking about the really well known like TE. If you don't have his CDs, you are missing out on some great music. And catch a show. Simply the best.
