What a talent, I miss her very much. She was unique to say the least. One of a kind.

I only saw Janis once, a Georgia Tech concert in late December. A fellow dressed as Santa Claus strolled down the aisle about half-way through the show and then handed her a bottle of Southern Comfort. Janis laughed and laughed -- obviously the interruption was a surprise to her -- but then ripped off the cap and chugged a huge slug.

The show was memorable!

Its a shame we lose so many great people to drugs and Alcohol abuse. Jimi, Jim, Janis, "Bonzo", Hank Sr, and the list goes on my friends. So many people are affected by what these people did. Its a shame I tell ya.

You got that shot right..........no one comes close to Janis!
She sang a song the way it should be sung.........with everything she had.

Thanks for the link! I viewed several of the videos there after watching the one you put out there.

She sang with all her emotions right up in your face. No one has ever come close to matching her true grit, IMO. How awesome it is that there is video footage!

RIP Ms. Joplin....I'm sure you are still having a ball somewhere.

I saw her in '69 at the first ATL Pop Festival. I do not remember a particular high point of that set except that it was enjoyable. The picture I do have of her is earlier that day standing on the side of the stage while Zeppelin played their set. They were not as well known then and did not get one of the later spots, contrary to what some have written on the internet. Janis was wearing a t-shirt with f**k you printed on the front in the shape of a stylized circle. Her reaction to Plant and Page was priceless. If I only had had a camera or money to buy a t-shirt. That was 39 years ago this week.

There will never be anyone like Janis - what a talent. Was lucky to see her live in 1969 ... one of those early-in-life shows that changed my way of thinking.
