just wanted to take a poll from the musicians on the forum. What do you like better? Fender guitars or Gibson guitars? I switch a lot back and forth, but right now I'm a Les Paul kind of guy. I like SG's too. Fender Strats are a close 3rd right now. Never owned a Tele.

Beauty is in the Eye of the beholder

I like the tone of a Gibson myself, but Hendrix played a Fender , so it could really be more who's playing, and how

I have a strat, and its my choice. I guess I'm a fender guy. At the same time I'd love to get a Les Paul. They are beautiful insturments with a fantastic tone. So I am a fender guy, but I don't have any ill feelings towards gibson.

I've played both kinds of guitars, strats and tele's.

And I've played both kinds of basses, Jazz and P's.

Had 'em all at one time or another....There are tones that Fender can't get and same for a Gibson.but....I started w/a Gibson and I'll die with one.

Love the tone of a Strat with the switch set using the neck and middle pups, but I have to say my favorites are my Les Paul and ES-345 both with '57 pups.

I rather own Robert Johnsons Kalamazoo than all the other guitars in the world, it's the one that wrote the book.

Since I bought a Gibson a few years ago, I don't play the Strat that much...

Still love the Strat though..

I love the sound of a Les Paul, and if I had ever mastered it, I'd play the one I own.

But I'm a bass player, and so there is really not much to discuss on this note. There are Fender Precision basses, and all the others. I play a custom shop 40th anniversary P-bass.

If you play in a band and have to stand on stage a Les Paul will sooner or later kill your back just ask Jimmy Page. They are totally two different sounds but if your a house band that plays four hours a night every weekend the Les Paul will break you down.

Depends on the mood or the song really.

I have 2 fender amps, and a gibson les paul studio electric guitar

I prefer my taylor acoustic and my PRS custom 24 as my favorites.

I saw a really purty fender strat with a red flamed top in the music shop last week.
I am afraid to play it , it might reach for my wallet.

Why did God put a music store (a fender dealer ) right next to the pet shop where I buy crickets for Max the Lizard King?

Is it a message to buy more Fender guitars!

Or it is a test of my Faith in PRS? and Taylor?

can I keep the guitar buying demons at bay?

DOOM SHALL RISE

OK I know a lot of you guys said it depends on the song. And some say a Les Paul would break your back. New Les pauls have weight reliefs cut in them to cut down on lowwer back problems, and also Jimmy page made a choice to wear his guitar strapped too low forcing his solos to suffer for a look and forcing his back to strain while playing. He said so him self. Also if you see him play now he does wear his Les Pauls higher then he used to.
I never keep anything original so my Les Paul Classic is fitted with a nice set of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, and an RS Guitarworks control pots. Thing sound beautiful! Les Paul.

I like 'em both...a LOT.

But, my #1 guitar is a Turner Model 1

Mine's similar to this except it doesn't have the flame top or the piezo bridge (no blend knob on the upper horn)

Since it appears as though you are joking, I can add this. Martin makes an incredible sounding acoustic Guitar as does Gibson, both are legendary, not only for sound but quality as well. The people at fender still haven't figured out how NOT to SCREW up acoustic guitars and probably never will. Look at Guild, when they were manufactured in Westerly R.I. by Guild, they were an amazingly good sounding instrument. Fender bought them out and within months they were being "assembled" in China... thanks Leo.
Add to that, fender now "makes" Gretsch as well...The acoustic Gretsch's are now "made" in Korea..

Thanks Leo
