And since when the hell did rock and roll have class? Recklessness is what made rock stars legends! And its a fact the man would get tail in any city he was in.

Champion Jack Dupree sez on the Live at Monteaux CD (King Curtis is on it) " I'm afraid to talk to a young girl on the street,I might be talkin to my daughter" It's a killer CD, BTW I don't care how many kids Gregg has, I just hope they're all doin fine.

It has nothing to do with Gregg. Your question was classless.

Classless is as Classless does my friend. All I want to know is how many kids he has. I didn't know you have to be so damn politically correct around here. You act like your his brother or something when he doens't even know you.

ad3Three, you have to accept that Gregg Allman is like Jesus Christ to the people here. Lot's of folks here looking for a hero and someone to believe in. Folks have settled for Gregg and the ABB. Most don't know they are desperately looking for someone to worship from afar. Just ignore the taunts, and also try to be more forgiving. This is a fan website. This is the altar, or where fans come to worship their musical heros. Oh, and BigV, he's a big gas bag. Best to tell him where to get off every chance you get.

Newbie, Hang out with Dean (jamrebel) and you will make a lot of friends here. And Gregg is our brother.

Dean, I reject your analysis. Gregg's music is one of the things that make life fun for me.
I know the difference between Gregg and Jesus, and so does Gregg. No altar here. Many of us here, myself included, have found comfort and solace in the music of Gregg and the ABB. Gregg is a legend and and a survivor, and deserves a lot more respect than he gets.

I am not desparately looking for someone to worship, nor am I looking for a hero. I have found some really great friends on this website and I enjoy coming here. I love the shows.
This site is about the music and the people who love it. It is a gathering place for us.

Dean you seem to enjoy stirring things up, but we know who you are and what you are about. Peace. Enjoy the music.

Ruthelane, I reject your rejection of my analysis, aka, your rebuttal. If I hear another old woman on this website carrying on about Gregg Allman I might just lose it. This is the official altar for the Allman Brothers Band and the deadheads here have turned following the band into a cult of personality worship.

I spent many years in a HUGE conservative Baptist church so I know a cult of personality when I see one. This website is the place to be an ALLMANIAC, to obsess over every triviality pertaining to the band, to band members, to the history, to the same songs played hundreds of times.

Like religion this website embraces an illusion and personifies the illusion making it an almost living entity. Sure folks here also kick back at shows toking on some weed, some of them, drinking beer, and simply just hanging out. But the brotherhood I see here is not much different than the bond I knew with folks in my church.

This is the band that said "We're starting a religion down here." So I don't expect a BIT of OBJECTIVITY and I don't expect you guys to observe Gregg Allman or Dickey Betts or any person in this band with SOBRIETY or CLARITY. This is not a place to really examine what this whirlwind of fame has elevated the band members here into. Let's just let Duane and Berry live on as minor deities in this crowd. It's very hard to argue that they are not beloved like martyred saints in the Christian church.

Look, I dig Gregg too but I tire of the foolish posers, the hangers on who wanna be cool. And I especially don't care for this hopeless gas bag know who calls himself BigV.

Rock and Roll people, take Steven Tyler who met his daugher Liv Tyler years ago are so freaking far from being saints.

Gregg is never going to be held responsible for his womanizing, in fact the women still line up wishing Gregg would come womanize them. Really, some still want the viking to come to plunder their personal villiage.

As entertainers, Gregg and the band surrounding him have usually kept us interested. Gregg Allman is simply a celebrity and a PAID entertainer. The guy is not out worrying about people's civil rights, about governing our country. Gregg is not sitting at the right hand of God either.

If there is a God of any kind, and if Gregg and the ABB are not the deity or deities, then when folks obsess over a band, any band then that path and that preoccupation, like a career, or any other major preoccupation, puts a person that much farther from God?

Is Christianity the end of all things? Who knows. Who knows if any religion is right.

Anyway, stop smoozing over every unpleasant fact about the personal lives of folks. When you embrace folks as closely as some of you have then WHO THESE PEOPLE REALLY ARE becomes that much more important.

People in the forum right now are ragging Amy Winehouse. I said give her a chance to grow up. Whatever life she is living doesn't have any effect on me. I have embraced her or her lifestyle, or her music, NOTHING. She does not influence my actions.

But the deadheads here, the obsessive fans have in part become who they are by EMBRACING THIS BAND, WARTS AND ALL. You will become like what you LOVE or who you admire and imitate.

So if you are not being Christ like, imitating how Christ lived. Then maybe you are to a degree imitating an Allman brother, embracing their loves and lifestyles, their habits, their moralty.

Oh, and BigV's abig gas bag. Best to tell him where to get off every chance you get.

Dean's just jealous that Gregg is such a better singer and songwriter than his hero Ronnie Van Zandt.

Ok, first let me start by saying I did not want to tick anybody off with this question and If I did I'm sorry. I had been ask by people before because even though I may be a newbie on this Forum I am not a Newbie to The ABB or rock music in general. That being said, I'm not going to post anything eles on this question because I just feel like its to heated of a question to ask. It shouldn't be, but it is. Greg said it best in a song called "Waisted Words" about himself and it goes... "I ain't no saint, sure as hell ain't no savoir, every other Christmas I would practice good behavior."

Don't for a second think I don't love those guys. I've spent many many nights with a guitar trying to cover their stuff. Gregg's a great song writter and his voice is the best thing that came from the south in the 60's. Gregg and his brother Duane are huge influances even to people that don't even know it. I meant no disrespect to anyone.

Well, Michael, I learned something new. That beautiful girl, Deena, in the photos, is Gregg's daughter? The missing name, I believe, is Benjamin. You know more about it than me, but I thought the order of birth was:
Michael
Deena
Devon
Benjamin
Elijah
Island
Layla
corrected, I think
