Yeah, I am really interested to see if the Jackson Tapes ends up on the bonus disc. I am very excited about this one. The remixed tracks that were released already on that compilation sound incredible. I can't wait to hear the entire albums!

I'm not as big a fan of early Genesis as some, but Lamb Lies Down is sheer genius. One of rock's most successful concept albums, in my opinion, and it has some great individual songs.

I'm hearing the big, crunchy bassline to the title track in my head right now

there's a fat old lady outside the saloon...

Hey Colin

How are things over the pond. I am a bit stretched as I am teaching more classes and I became a grandfather on Mother's Day. I guess that makes me officially old...

Anyway, the long await boxset # may or may not be related to the rumor that the O2 stadium has been reserved....perhaps a one off performance with the 5 lads doing the Lamb.........

I feel like a fly on a windshield....

Cheers

Hey Carlos ... it is Wimbledon and Glastonbury time over here ... so it is either strawberries and cream or knee deep mud depending upon where you are

Looking forward to the Boxset #3 ... but I hope I can pick it up for less that the 95 (= $180) that Amazon UK are quoting at the moment

What info do you have on the pre-booking of the O2 Arena ... do you have a date? ... I really must get to that one if I can ... and I have a spare room if any American visitor needs somewhere to stay

If their ever was an album I thought could use the "Deluxe Edition"
it would be "Genesis: Live" from 1973.

A complete show with 'Supper's Ready' as the centerpiece.
Ahhh ....

Colin, the rumor was that O2 was booked for sometime in Sep 08, and that was way Boxset #3 was delayed 8 months. Has Virgin Airlines got cheap airfares to London, with the cost of fuel today?

As to the Live lp, suspect never will get the treatment. SR from those dates is floating around...I am sure I have a copy at home. However, the rumor is that video of Gabriel flying at the end of SR might be part of the extra disc.

Would have been nice to get Seconds Out and 3 Sides with video.

For those who missed the Turn it on Again tour, the DVD set is good. My favorite part of the live show was the "Allmanesque" style tribute to all the members of the band past and present, including Ant himself. They ran a picture montage on the big screen during IKWIL but unfortunately, the DVD didn't have it as an extra.

Cheers

Good post. I AM a huge Genesis fan. But I have always thought that people who weren't should've taken more notice of THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY, because I feel the same way, that it is one of Rock's best concept albums. Extremely interesting with tons of incredible musicianship.

I'm still waiting for the DVD in the mail (I ordered late). But I was extremely impressed with the tour and loved the homage to past members. Really when it comes down to it, I think Genesis really embraces their entire history much better than a lot of bands. Even the forgotten members are never really forgotten. That new book that came out at the same time as these boxsets is really fantastic.

I see faces and traces of home...

I may be in the minority but my favorite era of Genesis is 1976 - 1982 (up to Three Sides Live). Accessible progressive rock. I love the 1976 DVD that came out recently. Saw it in VH1 classics....need to get it.

I ought to give the Gabriel era a deeper listen...

Whoa Tim ... that's a bit like saying your favourite era of the ABB is the Toler / Keytar years and you ought to give the Duane era a deeper listen

While that is a VERY funny comment. I don't necessarily agree. i think maybe saying from 84-92 era Genesis would be more fitting.

Personally, I actually like A lot from 76-84 and I think it the "pop" era of Genesis has many jems that get overlooked due to the hit side of the band becoming so strong.

But don't get me wrong, if I picked my top favorite Genesis songs, they would all be from 1971-1976!

I was being somewhat flippant ... English sense of humour (LOL) ... and I agree with you wholeheartedly ... whilst my favourite has to be the Gabriel era, there were some gems later as you say
