Here it is 2008 and still, the best show I've seen in the last ...10 years, was Steely Dan in '00. Saw that tour twice. Incredible. Saw them again in the summer of '06 and was tremendously let down. They're here in San Diego in August and yup, we're going.

Thanks for that enthusiatic review! Glad you had a good time. I love Steely Dan ; it's a love that has grown with time. Nice to read that they played for over two hours; longer show than the past couple of tours.

Steely Dan is still kicking it musically! Saw them a couple of years ago and they put on a fantastic show.

That was just a sample of their twisted sense of humor. Another letter from their site that deals with this same guy:
http://www.steelydan.com/lesrant.html

Check out their site sometime (see above minus lesrant). It's pretty clever. And it has lyrics!

I last saw them live in the early 90s. They were on fire! I hope to make it to the show in Atlanta.

I saw Steely Dan for the first time at JazzFest last year. They were every bit as good as I expected them to be. The set was short, as they all are there, and I'd love to see them play their full show sometime.

They played here the night before your post, so I'm thinking you're not going to make it!

This is a pretty close estimation of what they played from someone who attended last night's Beacon show:

Beacon Theater, New York NY, 6.14.08

Instrumental Medley> drum Solo
The Royal Scam
I Got The News>
Show Biz Kids
Everything You Did
Two Against Nature
Hey Nineteen>Becker Story (Cuervo Oriented)
God Wacker
Babylon Sisters
New Frontier
Gaucho BECKER VOCALS!!!
Green Earrings
Parker's Band
Black Friday>
Josie
Motown Jam (??)> Band Intros
Peg
FM
Encore:
Pretzel Logic
Kid Charlemagne

And a very cool story from last Friday here from the Steely Dan board:

quote:
COOLEST THING OF THE NIGHT in my opinion was when they came back for encores, Becker said something like "on a personal note, you may know I'm selling a solo CD in the lobby. Somebody told me they're selling it for $20 dollars which is frankly a rip off, right?. So I told the management to GIVE AWAY all of the CDs they have back there tonight, first come, first serve.....power to the people!". And I'll be damned if they weren't giving away Circus Money after the show, just handing them out to whoever wanted one. How cool is that?

Pre-ttay cool. I'm way psyched to be checking out The Dan at The Beacon next week. Will report back then.

I like the above set list, killer!. Last time I saw them.. ('06) it was a "Greatest hits"..sing along fest. Over the years this band has written and recorded such a great, varied group of tunes, it was a shame to hear only things played on the radio.
