Caught the show on Tues in Toronto and it was amazing. Winnood got a good hour plus and TPAth played for over two. Lots of hits from both and the new stuff from Winwood is great live. He went back and forth from the B3 to the Strat and his band was very tight. Still got the pipes which was evident on both Mr. Fantasy and Find My Way Home. Tom Petty went into the back catelog a bit and pulled out some gems like Spike, Rebels and Sweet William along with End of the Line by the Wilburys which featured Scott Thurston singing the Roy Orbison parts to a tee. The new reworked live version of Saving Grace was spectacular. He also did a nice tribute to Bo Diddley with a great rendition of Gunslinger and Mystic Eyes. We were second row dead centre and the boys were having a blast and I am sure Tom was feelin no pain. Benmont Tench was on fire and many of the extended solos he did were of the big piano sound variety that were very Chuck Leavell sounding. A great show that I suggest you take in if it comes your way!

Thanks Kdick; I'm seeing this on 7-9 in Atlanta, and have been following the tour on TP's site. His fans seem especially enthused about the tour. Here's a member's setlist from Toronto:

Here's the setlist from memory, I can;t promise it's exactly right:
You Wreck Me
Mary Jane
Won't Back Down
Even the Losers
Free Fallin'
Honeybee
Sweet William
End of the Line
Spike
The Waiting
Saving Grace (newly arranged, with extended jam)
Rebels
Face in the Crowd
Learnin' to Fly
Don't Come Around Here No More
Refugee

E: Runnin' Down a Dream
Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger-> Mystic Eyes
American Girl

PS, I have a good pr of extras for Atlanta for sale in Spare tix forum.

I've seen Petty a couple of times and have always enjoyed it. The last time was in 2005 when the Black Crowes opened. "Spike", I love that song!

Philadelphia Night I.
Picked up 4th row center tix from the box office on a drop Monday at lunchtime.
Tonight was about as good as a concert experience can be. Hot hotties prancing around the parking lot. And really top notch music by two of the all-time rock n roll greats. Steve Winwood may be God. I just love what he does. Played alot of the new album. Very solid band. Mr. Fantasy was THE **** tonight.
Petty and the HBs were really great as well. Winwood and Petty are the last of a truly dying breed. What a great combo. I am such a lucky dude. I'll be attending tomorrow here in Philly as well. BRING ON NIGHT TWO!!

Steve did not play Gimme Some Lovin at the Toronto show. He closed with a new one.

Philly Night II.
Another great show. Winwood and Petty both changed up their sets somewhat.
Midway through Petty's set, Winwood joined the HBs for a pretty kickazz version of Gimmie Some Lovin'.

I have second row seats center here in Charlotte, July 11. I've never been to a bad TP show, never seen Winwood before.

planning on hitting the Charlotte show, don't have tickets yet so that is somewhat of a problem.
Saw them the last time they played here in Charlotte with Stevie Nicks on the tour opener - great show!!!
This should be a great one too
psyched for the Dickey Betts show @ the Neighborhood theatre this friday.

Excellent show out at Nissan. Petty brought his "A' game and I'm constantly amazed at Mike Campbell and Benmont Trench's playing. Why these guys aren't rated higher as players just doesn't make sense.

Anyway here's their setlist

JUNE 8, 2008- NISSAN PAVILION, BRISTOW, VA

You Wreck Me
Mary Jane's Last Dance
I Won't Back Down
Even The Losers
Free Fallin'
Honey Bee
Sweet William
End of the Line
Gimmie Some Lovin (w. Steve Winwood)
Saving Grace
A Face in the Crowd
Rebels
You Don't Know How It Feels
Learning to Fly
Don't Come Around Here No More
Refugee

Encore:

Runnin' Down a Dream
Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger----> Mystic Eyes
American Girl

Also Steve Winwood has a good set, lot's of material off his new CD "Nine Lives" (got to pick that one up) mixed in with some classic Traffic/Steve Winwood. Seem to remember "Dear Mr. Fantasy", "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Low Sparks". Winwood would be great for the ABB to take on tour next year (Hint).

Good to hear (but I've never been disappointed by either of these guys live)! I've got tix for Petty/Winwood next month!
