I just want to slow the world down and some time to reflect.

Is there a good time of day or a good way

this is an excellent book-- Present Moment Wonderful Moment: Mindfulness Verses for Daily Living, by Thich Nhat Hahn.

it will do what you're lookin' for.

For me, Iíve been most successful (in terms of sticking with it) by making it a part of my morning routine.

Once the day gets going, its hard to pause or slow down.

I usually do Yoga just about an hour after breakfast and the drugs have kicked in.

I have heard to do it when you are most awake. If you do it when you are sleepy, you just fall asleep and it doesn't benefit you...make any sense??? I am no master though.

I always meditate while I'm mowing the lawn. The droning of the lawnmower engine is very soothing to me, and it relaxes me.

LMAO! That's awesome Jason! Personally I do most of my meditating while I'm hackin' up limbs with the chainsaw, wonderfully relaxing. If there's no trees to attack I just stick my head in the sink & turn on the garbage disposal for about 20 minutes
Besides those methods, I get some good meditation in by putting on some soothing music, sitting in an open, receptive posture, keep my eyes closed (helps bring me inside & the eyes are always judging & distracting), focus on my breathing (also helps to bring one inside), and try to not hold on to any thoughts, just acknowledge them & then let them go in a free-flowing manner.
