With gas prices and distance, which one do you think would be more worth my time? Red rocks is way closer, but I have a longer period of time to save up money if I go to Atlanta, but it would cost more. Any ideas?

They bring their best to both venues... either way I don't see you being dissapointed.

tough call

at red rocks you get amazing natual views plus ratdog and then the next day you can see mule and UM

at ATL you can do two days of "An evening with"

So if you like the other 3 bands go to red rocks. If you are really only an ABB fan go to ATL.

if the question is 'how do i get the most ABB for my buck?' it's Atlanta hands-down. on the other hand, if you give a listen to the Red Rocks shows from years past, they've consistently been just freakin' EPIC shows. just EPIC. me, i'm going to Atlanta - 2 nights of nothin' but the Brothers is pretty irresistible, and what seals it is that my lovely ABB-lovin' bride can go to both shows. but the unforgettable splendor of Red Rocks, the essentially psychedelic turn the shows take, that's pretty groovy.

hmmm... anyone else notice how setlists and style seem skewed to the venue and region sometimes? Beacon shows, Red Rocks shows, Atlanta shows, left coast shows - to me they all seem tilted in an appropriate direction. maybe it's just me.

good luck deciding - hey - time to burn those discs for ya. thanks for the reminder!

I'm pretty much an Atlanta booster, but I'd do Red Rocks. That setting looks amazing. Chastain is nice and all, but it's a suburban amphitheatre filled with, well, suburbanites.

I'm thinking red rocks because it is closer and wouldn't cost nearly as much gas. I would rather have two full days of the brothers in Atlanta, but I don't know if I can afford it. My dad is actually more of a mule fan than a brothers fan, and he really wants to see the mule again. My guess is that we'll probably make Red rocks. but man, I sure would live to full days of the allmans.

If you book early, you could probably fly to Atlanta for what it will cost you in gas to go to Red Rocks. Not sure how far RR is from where you live. Both, you would still need lodging. Atlanta has good transportation. For me its a no brainer.......................ATLANTA.

2 nights of nothing but ABB. No openers, Not sure how big each venue is, but by the looks of Chastain, it looks pretty small. No sure of the capacities..........Brock would know.

I agree with that! Either way too you'd be meeting quite a few fellow forum members! A great bunch, no doubt.

Thanks......................not sure what Red Rocks capacity is. Plus being in Atlanta is being on the ABB's home turf. No telling who will show up as a guest in Atlanta. I have been wanting to go to RedRocks too. Both are tempting. And RonE is right on, different venues seem to get different set lists.....but Atlanta and RedRock shows both seem to be pretty awesome.

And hopefully it was a fluke since this year is the same weekend! Usually, Red Rocks is good thru about 3 weeks in Sept.
I'd love to go to Atlanta, but Red Rocks is my 'home field'. Ron, no chance of Red Rocks this year?

Hmmm, well, if it was me, I'd probably do Red Rocks, considering the distances.

I am going to both this year, but I live in Atlanta.

Another reason Red Rocks will be fantastic is the diversity. Nobody loves two nights of the Brothers more than me, but to see Mule and Ratdog at Red Rocks along with the Bros will be an unbelievable time!

Both will be spectacular. The ATL Brothers shows are always truly magical, but the addition of the venue this year adds a whole other element. That is gonna be a wicked weekend!

Either way, my friend, you're not gonna lose and you'll fly home grinnin'.

I'd like to go to all of them.

I'm really hoping to go to Red Rocks, but if i could pull off the Georgia shows, too, that would be sweet. I'd like to see my grandchildren, one of who has a birthday on the 10th! They live in Warner Robins, just an hour and a half from Atlanta.

I'll be traveling from California, too, and Red Rocks would make a great road trip. But the gas won't be cheap!

Red Rocks...and i'm from Atlanta.

Chastain is nice, but the music is never loud enough. I always want to run up on the stage and turn it up a notch. I was very disapointed that they were coming there.

I'd rather see them at Lakewood again, chances are you might not get hit by a stray bullet...it's about 50/50. Mugged maybe ?

What he said! There is no Piedmont Park to visit at Red Rocks either..

RR is around 10k if my memory serves! I hope to make it out there someday, but won't be happening anytime soon

Chastain is not what I would call a typical suburban ampitheatre (technically it is in the City Limits of Atlanta and rarely are things Inside The Perimiter in ATL considered the 'burbs anyhow). It is stone ampitheatre in a beautiful wooded environment where you might think you were in the N Georgia Mountains when you walk inside. I've traveled to a lot of music venues and Chastain isn't a weak sister. Atlanta is beautiful in the fall. Great seats are still available. You get two nights.

I have never been to Red Rocks. It looks amazing and I need to get there one year soon......Couldn't doubt you if you went that route either.

With the seats currently available for Chastain in the pre-sale, volume will not be a problem. IMO, Chastain in this set-up with these seats available runs circles around Lakewood.
