Okay, mine and Donna's birthdays are two days apart (she's two days older than me!). So when the time came to get hitched, we opted for the day in the middle. This makes remembering her birthday and our anniversary a snap! Whenever the officer hands me back my drivers license, I need only look at the birth date to remember all three dates!

Usually, we go out of town and have a little vacation. Since I have so much going on in town this year, we thought a little party would be in order.

Thanks to some real good friends who happen to be real fine musicians, we're going to give this party a vintage rock concert theme, featuring TWO bands for your listening pleasure!

The first band (starting at around 5:30) is the Big City Wranglers. These guys play vintage country and western music (Hank, Merle, Waylon, et al) with a unique cool twist. They're some fine players!

The second band is our own, Skydogs. If you've ever seen Brent and the guys you know what you're in for! If you've never seen 'em, then this is a fine opportunity!

If you can make it to our party, please RSVP by June 21.

As far as we're concerned - the more-the merrier! But if we go over a certain number, we'll have to provide an extra security guard (as per the Vestavia Civic Center's rules and regulations).

So, if you can make it - please let me know via PM by June 21.

And remember: the only gift is your presence!

I got married on my wife's birthday, which is the day after my Mom's, and two days before my older son's . . . easy to remember everything - first week in February, and I'm broke as ****.

And, re: wifey, if you think I get away with the "one present for both days" thing, you're crazy.

Congratulations on all three big days, Rusty.

For any and all who might need a hotel - there is a Days Inn just down the road (like a mile) from where we're having the party. Posted rates for that date (6/28) run from $55.00 (single queen bed) to $165 (King Suite). I doubt we'll do much better than that.

Here's the link:

http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/check_avail?brandCode=DI,MQ, HJ,KG,RA,SE,TL,BU&searchWithinMiles=25&areaType=1&destination=b irmingham&state=AL&country=US&checkInDate=06/28&numberAdult s=1&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=06/29&numberChildren=0&numbe rBigChildren=0&rate=000&variant=&id=06003&propBrandId=DI&am p;force_nostay=false

Not a brand new hotel, but near the "venue" and in a good area.

I will check other places, but this should be a good one - right by the interstate (I-65 and I 459 interchange), too.
