He just released a new album this past Tuesday ("Same Old Man"). I've only given it one quick listen but it sounds somewhat similar to Master Of Disaster, so if you like that album you might want to check out the new one.

I've been a big fan for alot of years. He's been around a long time, he's never exactly become a household name but he's been very prolific so there's plenty of stuff to check out. I would recommend Bring The Family, Perfectly Good Guitar and Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan but you can't go wrong with pretty much any of his material.

been a fan since the mid 80's. John rocks. My first CD and my favorite was/is slow turning. Sonny Landrith plays on a few of his CDs. I've seen him a bunch of times and he always has good players with him. I like all of his stuff from the mid 80's on.

Caught him a few times and he always puts on a great show.

I saw him at the Beacon for the Perfectly Good Guitar Tour with the Guilty Dogs, boy that was one funky band.

BIG Hiatt fan here! Make the effort to see him live, you will not be sorry. Solo or with a band, he is fabulous. Just bought tix for the 8/7 show, and hope to be able to make the show on 8/17.

"Feels Like Rain" is another wonderful Hiatt song covered by Buddy Guy. It's a fine version. Both men give me goosebumps with their versions.

Down here the river meets the sea
And in the sticky heat I feel ya open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, like a hurricane
And it feels like rain

Since Hurricane Katrina that one rings just a little bit too true...

What a powerful song though...

I love John Hiatt, cannot ever get enough. Have seen him at intimate shows and I just smile and sing along the whole show. Bring the Family is outstanding. I love Ethylene, it's on the Cry Love CD. He is truly one of the greatest song writers. Boy, I could go for one of his shows right now. Hurricane, Wreck of the Barbie Ferrari. He was a big drinker who got sober.

I LOVE JOHN HIATT

A couple of years ago we went home to see the ABB in Pittsburgh and John Hiatt was playing at another venue in Pittsburgh as well. So I went to see the brothers with my son and the wife went with her sisters to see Hiatt. After the show my wife calls me on the cell and said someone wanted to talk to me. John got on the phone and kidded me about seeing the brothers and not coming to see him; we had an enjoyable conversation for a few minutes. We've seen him a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. I wish I could have seen him that night as well, but the brothers come first.

One of my Favorites:

"Just like your dad did"

Well the sun comes up and you stare your cup of coffee, yup
Right through the kitchen floor
You feel like hell so you might as well get out and sell
Your smart ass door to door

And the Mrs. wears her robe slightly undone
As your daughter dumps her oatmeal on your son
And you keep it hid
Just like your Dad did

So you go to work just to watch some jerk
Pick up the perks
You were in line to get
And the guy that hired you just got fired,
Your jobs expired
They just ain't told you yet

So you go and buy a brand new set of wheels
To show your family just how great you feel
Acting like a kid
Just like your dad did
And

Bridge:
You're a chip off the old block
Why does it come as such a shock
That every road up which you rock
Your dad already did

Yeah you've seen the old mans ghost
Come back as creamed chipped beef on toast
Now if you don't get your slice of the roast
You're gonna flip your lid
Just like your dad did, just like your dad did

Well the day was long now, suppers on
The thrill is gone
But somethings taking place
Yeah the food is cold and your wife feels old
But all hands fold
As the two year old says grace
She says help the starving children to get well
But let my brothers hamster burn in hell
You love your wife and kids
Just like your dad did

Excellent live show. This band has Luther Dickenson on guitar and Kenny Blevins (of Landreth's Goners) on drums...don't know about the bass player. Landreth and his band have recorded 3 cd's, North Mississippi AllStars the Master of Disaster one.
Hiatt solo is amazing too...if fact, I think that's where he's best.
Good place to see him and the new band (the Ageless Beauties) is the Hot August Blues festival, just north of Baltimore...a one day festival. Nice place, good vibe to the whole thing.
