Longtime friends Eric Clapton and Robbie Robertson have started recording their first album together last month in London, and according to a source close to Robertson, it is "gong well." They've been working with drummer Ian Thomas and bass player Pino Palladino, both of whom will join Clapton on his North American spring tour.

Robertson will continue to work on the album, which will be all original material, and then get together with Clapton at the end of the summer. But be patient -- our source says, "They will take their time, and there is no release date or title."

This collaboration with Robertson is another in a series of recent projects Clapton has undertaken with friends and past collaborators. Since 2000 he has recorded albums with B-B King and J-J Cale, reunited for seven shows with Cream, and performed with his former Blind Faith bandmate Steve Winwood this past February and last summer.

2 of the songs on the current tour, Rocking Chair and Wilson Picket's Don't Knock My Love may be part of new record.

Don't Knock My Love is hot, and could be first single.

Only time will tell.

With two of the greatest living guitar players, this is bound to be good! Really good!

Well, I hope this recoding is a step up from the last time Eric recorded with Robbie Robertson. (and other members of The Band)

1977's somewhat disappointing "No Reason to Cry".

I remember buying it when it came out. It had a couple or 3 pretty good cuts, but much of it just didnt have any fire at all. Very languid.

Judging from Claptons recent work, (w/ Cream, w/ Steve Winwood, w/ Derek) I think this one will be much better.

i kinda like No Reason To Cry--messy,but has certain vibe--love the EC/Bob duet on Sign Language--but,with EC singing & playing & Robbie playing & writing it should be an interesting listen
