I started this thread a few years ago and some of you might recall I related a story about my father; how he had this pet crow named 'Mike'. I said I would post a picture if I ever learned how.

This is my dad and Mike in 1948. My dad was 11 or 12. He had trained a crow since birth and they were always together, when you saw one; you saw the other. Folks in Manchester, Conn got used to seeing the two as they walked down Main Street.

My dad would exit his house on the walk to school in the morning and Mike would fly down and land on his shoulder. My dad would feed him tidbits until he reached school and then Mike would fly away. That afternoon when he exited the school, Mike would again land on his shoulder. A friend of my fathers told me that my dad even taught Mike a few words!

When I look at my dad at that age, I am lookling at myself! It's scary! Anyway, for those interested, enjoy a blast from the past. (thanx to BDOB on teaching me how to post pictures)

That's a cool story!!

Not that long ago I posted a video of a Crow that took in a kitten and the story behind it was quite unusual! Animals certainly can amaze us just as much as humans!

Tan Dan, I,too, have seen a pair at my feeder both this year and last year. However, the red breasted Gosbeaks seem to only visit for just awhile and move on. They are not summer long visitors. Also a cool Indigo Bunting has been hanging around.

A couple of years ago my neighbor's bird feeder fetched up some RATS. We both put poison out and they must have run off and died. I remember one night I went outside and I heard this loud walking on the chainlink fence. Something was on the fence underneath the jasmine vine. RAT.

Of course it could have been a possum though but at the time I was thinking RAT.

Here is a tip I just learned 2-days ago. And it really works!

Put a couple tea/tbl spoons of grape jelly on a plate and place somewhere the birds can check it out. It will attract Orioles!! They love it.

Great story about the crow, Dan! So far at my feeder I've had some robins, cardinals, sparrow, starling, and of course the ever popular squirrels and squinties (chipmunks).

Ok, nothing is at my bird feeder but my neighbor's cat keeps rolling around underneath and clawing at the trunk of my peach tree. Now I know I can get some support for a PEACH tree over a stinkin' feline. It also likes to use my woodchips for a litter box. I have been dying to shoot my 9mm lately...good thing I like animals though.
