• The curfew - is 10:30 this place is in a residential area & they cannot & will not go over curfew.
• The volume - this place is in a residential area & they will not play loud enough for you two hear them even though you are half back dead center in you 85.00 seats.
• The uninterested crowd - 50 % of this crowd is there via corp. tickets or season tickets & could care less who is playing. The same group of goofy yuppies crowd there little tables, drink there wine & converse about the weeks events while you strain to hear Derek breaking one off during Dreams. You will hear more of them & less of the band.

• The table set up is very crowding - when they do a table set up forget about getting in & out of your row. It ridiculous how much stuff people will lug in to this place.
• Traffic, access in & out / parking - plan on bumper to bumper traffic as you circle an upscale neighborhood looking for a place to park.
• The pre-game is lame - of course, there will be no port-o-potties for any pre-show drinking. You will have to hold it or water the flowers!
• Tickets prices are absurd - because people know no other venues, it has developed this false reputation as a great venue. The Venue has such very low overhead (the people seating you are volunteers) yet they have to make there coin back since no one is buying food & beer – thus the over priced tickets. (Higher priced ticket & shorter show, awful sound….guaranteed! )
• This is not a venue for a loud rock band.

There is some truth in most of what you say, but after Piedmont Park last year and the possibility of no show this year, I'm seeing the glass as half-full! It'll be just fine. Ya'll come!

I don't go to Chastain to see ANYONE. I'll bet Bro. Duane wouldn't have had anything to do with that BS yuppie scene!

Although it's been awhile, my one trip to Chastain was quite pleasant, as I also saw the glass half-full. I had a blast watching the yuppies in their splendor, or lack thereof. The mixing and matching of styles, catering, made for quite a spectator sport. Music wasn't bad either--Brufort, Wakeman, Anderson, Howe (Yes) or whatever order their names were in. We were close enough to hear fine. The neighborhood was also unique for a concert....obviously a high, high dollar neighborhood. We just had fun with all of it, went to Blind Willie's afterwards to renew acquaintenences with the Shadows. Very positive evening.

Both shows are listed as "non-table" and you can't bring in outside food and drink. I think it also means they can pack in a few more than the 6,500 that Chastain ordinarily holds. While there are drawbacks to Chastain, given the size differences in amphitheaters in Atlanta, the ABB could only do one night if they played at Lakewood or the new Verizon Wireless amphitheater in Alpharetta. So having a second night at Chastain more than offsets the negatives, in my view.

I am not trying to put a negative spin on the weekend at chastain. That venue just isn't MY thing. I am sure the shows will sell out and a good time will be had by all. I will look forward hopefully to wanee o9 and beacon 09. The ABB's music is and always will be the soundtrack for my life!

I think this is a silly question due to what I'm reading about the location of Chastain, but does MARTA have a station anywhere close ?

I think its like, buy 3 for 1, but if you want 3 for two, you gotta buy at least 3 for 3 .
Hope thats clear, because I'm still trying to decode the secret to getting pre sale for for 1 for 2 without getting 3.

A little bit too discerning when they only are doing a handful of shows don't ya think? Atlanta gets two "Evening With's...." which are by far the best. Small venue, Friday and Sat nights, all the rest of the stuff is irrelevant (buses, tables yuppies who cares). Go and enjoy the Bros. brother!!

10:30 curfew: If they go on at 8, problem solved.

volume: I was on the lawn for the Saturday Santana show, volume was fine and the sound was nice and clear, we ended up moving up to the seats half way through the show, about 80 feet closer, the volume and sound was that much better even though we were still near the back.

uninterested crowd: again not a problem at the Santana show either on the lawn or in the seats where I was at, the crowd was on their feet and dancing on a rainy night.

table set up: this is a no table, no cooler show.

http://www.chastainseries.com/calendar.php

traffic: Agreed not the easy place to get in and out of but neither is Lakewood, Fox, Phillips...

Pre game: Again agreed but again I have never seen a port a pot in the parking lot at Lakewood, the Fox, and so on.

Ticket Prices: hopefully the ticket prices will be a little more reasonable than usual since it is a no table show and they can get more people in and the venue will make more money off the concessions (I don't mind paying a bit more of tickets to a show that I can bring a cooler and my own drinks to, Yeah I might spend $40 less for a ticket to a show at Lakewood but they sure as hell are going to make that and then some in beer sales off of me...I realize this might not be the case for everyone but I thought it was worth pointing out)

End of rant...does anybody want any cheese w/ their whine?

The Allman Brothers are playing two nights in Atlanta (as far as we know this might be the only dates in the southeast) and I am pumped!

I am telling you all this so that you do not have false expectations. It's very possiable that this could be a legandry show with special guests, maybe a steller set list, perhaps some 1st time covers played. But I want you hard core fans to know that not everyone at this show is going to be into your band the way you are. The way people are at most smaller venues. 2nd & more importantly it's likely 50% of people won't hear the music very well. Lets face it folks, The Allman Brothers Band need to be heard at a pretty high volume.

Yea we are all very excited the Bros are comming, that's not in question. I just think that the promotor or booking person could of found a more suitable venue. I think anyone on here would rather a mutli night Fox run.But this is what we got so we shall go enjoy it. However I will be driving to a venue with a db of 95 or more.

Article about the Verizon Amp.
“. Similar venues, like Chastain Amphitheater in Atlanta, operate at a level of 85 decibels. Atlanta Spirit LLC and Rutherford Seydel, the venue's primary investors, are requesting the amphitheater operate at 95 decibels.

db study article
" the study found that the sound intensity was high throughout a concert venue, regardless of the type of music or seating location. Decibel levels averaged 99.8 dB(A) and maximum values exceeded 125.6 dB"

db article
"If Chastain Park is 85, and the operator said they need 90 or 100, then we have to look into that," Councilman Doug DeRito said.”
