is coming to Seattle July 11 to sit in with my ABB tribute band on vocals. We are going to play a full night of Allman Brothers music at the Royal Bear in Algona about 11 miles south of Seattle. Finalizing plans now....Michael has his own band called Hard Labor Creek and they are currently in the studio recording their cd. We will be recording this show for personal use only.

Cool............. Don't hear as much about him as the others ...even here....

I did see the before his wedding pic's awhile back....

I've always wanted to hear him sing since I heard about him back in the late 80's

I live near St Lou & have known of Devon since he was young...... but Michael is my age so I guess thats my curiosity.....

I've looked at at his myspace site. He has a lot of famous friends like Stevie Nicks, Hank III, Billy Bob Thorton plus the ABB affiliated bands and friends and so there must be some music of his somewhere. I'd like to hear some tunes especially if he can sing like Gregg.

I am pleased to see that Michael is back doing some music. He opened up for Derek back in the old days maybe 12 years ago or so at Smith's Olde Bar and did nice job. We had nice chat after the show and he was very personable. I have run him from time to time and the last time we talked he was doing construction. I am happy that he is doing music again, it gladdens my heart.

I'm kinda torn on that subject, I mean, if I was a famous rock star and my kid wanted to get into the music business, I'd encourage him/her while teaching them the do's and don't from my experiences. If my kid wanted to go it alone, I'd support them but also explain that unless they are extremely talented, lucky, and have the connections like their famous parent, they will have a very hard time breaking through the millions of other bands out there trying to do the same thing. If you are referring to tribute bands, we obtained permission direct from Kirk West before proceeding with this band. We all have day jobs and make hardly any money doing this tribute. Our gas and food expenses are covered most of the time but that's it. Any extra money we happen to make goes into our promo fund for future show posters, mailings, ink cartridges, long distance phone calls, equipment repairs, etc. Since the ABB hardly ever comes to our area, this is the best free promo a band could ask for...we help keep the name and the music in the minds of the local fans and also convert new fans at every show we do.

Yeah, if I hear Miley do Achey Breaky Heart one more time, Iím going to regurge. Seriously, assuming thatís a not so veiled slap at Devon, I respectfully disagree. Heís working his butt of touring, playing clubs in front of crowds of tens some nights, and still giving his all to establish himself. I really like what Iíve seen, and I wish him well. If thatís not what youíre referring to, then donít be so vague, and say what you mean.

Okay. I have an agreeable response to that, but I've incurred the wrath of the Dickey apologists enough for one week.

For some reason, this exchange made me laugh! Chitown, I haven't been on here in a couple weeks, so I don't know what you're referring to, but I sure can imagine!

I am so happy Michael is back to music. In photos he resembles Gregg very much.
I can't wait to buy his new CD.

Devon and Elija did not ask for Daddy's help when they started their music careers.

Also Miley Cyrus had an audition just like the 999 others and she won fair and square.
Her Daddy didn't get the job for her. Like it or not she is very talented and I have a;ways liked Dad.

Anyhow Gregg's children inherited more than blond hair from Dad. They also got some of his musical talent.

Wishing Michael the best of everything.

I see nothing wrong with gaining an advantage due to the success of your parents. What I do have a problem with is blowing that opportunity due to lack of work ethic. If the talent just isn't there well that's another story then.

I agree ........But it seems alot of times it's harder or near impossible because the parent is an icon ...........And even being great at what they do........

Off hand I can't think of any offspring that have come close to the parent....

A few I know of personly are ; Frank & Bobby Dixon [ Willie's boy's ], Dean Hall [ Tom T.'s boy ]..........I seen Charles Berry many times & he is a killer player......could stand next to the best.....but he's no CHUCK....never will be....

that's very well said....a lot of times kids are expected to live up to the expectations that their parents have performed & if they don't, then they are quickly dismissed, more so than an average kid with no ties & no previous expectations preset. i agree that in the case of Duane, while he is good at guitar, he doesn't match his father's amazing various skills at this point....maybe in time, we shall see

But it was offered.

Anyway, the expectations placed on the offspring are unrealistic. They are their own people. Why should they sound and play exactly like their famous parents? They shouldn't. They gotta do their own thing. But I sure do love to see them take off for themselves. And I wish Michael all the best because he deserves it!!

I see nothing wrong with kids of famous musicians pursuing musical careers. In fact, I love it when I see those babies doing their own thing.... as long as it's their OWN thing and they work their butts off just as everyone else does, they don't ride coat tails, and they make their own mark. Having the last name of a famous artists is great, as long as the young artists uses THEIR name (including their famous last name) and not" Joe Blow, son of the famous Joe Blow Sr." Most of the good ones (and a few names and friends come to mind) don't. Use your name and leave it at that, I say. Just my 2 cents.
