It was 7-23-89 at Lakewood-Atlanta, but I don't have to remember, since I have this shirt w/ every GA show; it's like a reference source you can wear!

Hi Peg - looks like you were more lucid in the '70s than I was. Good thing I quit that stuff by the end of that decade!

January of 1973 at the Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati. I missed Duane by a about a year, and Berry by a few months. Still, Dickey stepped up and Chuck Leavell was in the mix, hence the formation of my favorite tune of all time - "Jessica."

I love hearing all the dates that everyone saw the Brothers for the first time -- I'm jealous of many of you (i.e., Duane/Berry era)!

Gotta admit -- I love the current lineup, but I miss the trippy Dickey days of "Tombstone Eyes" and "Back Where It All Begins" (around the time of my first 'live' experience).

Was this the kiddie matinea show ?

Mine was June 14, 1974. I had heard that the Bros came through KC a few years earlier which would had been the 5 man band. I'll look through the archives because I'm curious if the 5 man band had a stop in KC...maybe it was Omaha.

I first saw the Allman Brothers Band in the fall of 1969. They opened for Sweetwater at a Georgia State University concert in the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium. The show is not in the live database, so I can't give you the exact date.

Duane wasn't there -- he was doing session work -- but I didn't know the difference because I'd never seen them before! I focused on Brother BO thumping his bass and vibrating onstage.

I'd seen the Great Speckled Bird article about the Brothers a few months before and hadn't had a chance to see them because I went home for summer break. I made a point of catching this show and Gregg invited the audience to join them the next weekend in Piedmont Park.

If any of you have a copy of HTN #6, there is a great story about Berry Oakley written by John Ogden. The story begins at this very same show.

July 20th 1974 ... Knebworth Park

I would dearly have loved to have seen them earlier, but this was the first time they came over to the UK and so the first opportunity I had.

Tim Buckley started the day off at about 2pm, then we had the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, John McGlaughlan, Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison and finally the ABB ... what a day

I still remember that show like it was yesterday. The encore was Whipping Post (as it was on the majority of the '92 shows), I did not hear another Whipping Post until August 30, 2006 - Rosemont Theatre, 48 shows later.
