once again doing all they can to destroy my life by denying payment on my ms meds--they do it yearly & this time, after the battle to get it approved which we "won" those effers decided to not renew my rx--my place of work & docs have battled & won in the past & we will do it again today, but who knows...i am despondant as i was finally seeing some light in my life--without these meds i am forced to my bed due to my symtoms--great those bastards achieved their goal--i'm humiliated when my kids have to see me like this & feel for the burden it puts on my wife...let alone the numerous other consequenses i prefer not to detail....

every doc i work with, every person i try to help despises these people--these companies--ya pay in for years, they wait for ya to get sick or deteriorate & then they don't pay up...it's all about the cash--the only thing that counts in this country...

i'm sure noone is interested in any of my rants anymore & perhaps, with good reason...but, i'm hurting physically & am kinda fearful now for my family,my obligations,etc... & ranted here outta my own deep fear, hurt, & frustration.....

Dad, please try not to intenalize the insurer's actions. Rather, seek counsel if your company and doctors don't prevail. Many states have some fairly punitive statutes if an insurer wrongly refuses to pay. An atty that practices in this area might do it on a contingent fee. A "nastygram" may be all it takes. Good luck!

I'd like to kick them in the Mule for you. Man it is a shame that you have to go through a song and dance and all that anxiety which cannot be good for you before they approve, which you know they will. BTW, I would threaten a law suit because like I mentioned, the anxiety is enough to give your health a set back. But please take heart cause people are rooting for you. I don't know when the darkness is gonna end for this country and medical insurance and I don't know if it will ever happen in my lifetime, but this country ought to be ashamed.

Effie, I feel ya, buddy. You got a right to rant. Have at it.

This is EXACTLY why I don't carry health insurance anymore. Insurance companies are NOT here to help you. They are here to take your money and make a profit for the shareholders. I gave up my BC/BS when the premiums cost as much as my house payment. It's a gamble with or without insurance. And since I'm not much of a gambler to begin with, I choose to hang on to my money. God forbid I get a catastrophic illness or get into a major motorcycle or car crash, but I do have AFLAC cancer and disability insurance.

It's a law to have automobile insurance, but it's not a law to have health insurance.

I got a message for health coverage providers.

This is another of the many reasons this country needs national health insurance. The rest of the the world does quite well with it ( if you saw the movie Sicko and not feel for these people your heartless). Anyway the Physicians for a National Health Program would very much hear like to hear from you and possibly point you in helpful direction. The site is http://www.pnhp.org/ I hope it helps!

What OTF said dadof2. The funeral home I chose says the life insurance that my mom has was bought by another company, or it may have been sold a few times. They say they are researching to FIND OUT WHO the beneficiaries are of the left over CASH, which would be my brother and I. I don't think it is an accident that they are phucking around trying to pretend they can't find the beneficiaries. It's phucking greed. It IS all about the CASH. My mom DID faithfully pay on her policy for YEARS, and now this bullphuckingsh!t.

appreciate all of the support--my place of work is aggressively helping now,& i will pursue legal avenues if needed--but,everyday i deal with people i try to help & they don't have a place of work that could battle for them--i go home often in tears knowing all the pain meds people can't get simply because this country has moronic & devilish politicians who have, with the assistance of their generous donors the insurance companies, made it very difficult to practice palliative medicine &/or pain management---let alone the cost of cancer medicine & the many people who quietly but painfully die, often prematurely as a result of these ruthless people.

Well,my meds aren't opiates, but they can go after anything--all rooted in the dollar--how much longer are we as people of this country going to allow the govt.,the pharm companies & halliburton decide our collective fates--all 3 presidential candidates are liars...those who seek power are the wrong people to be in power---but,today we all blog it away on the internet when,in fact, this country needs a people's revolution--peaceful,but relentless in helping the poor, needy & sick---which we all can be,will be or already are...& when you're down & out ya need help & support--our govt. & it's funding partners in insurance are there as Ang said,to increase our pain, suffering & anxiety during these times...why should congress give a **** --they have extremely good medical insurance for them & their families,so screw us all? When will we say enough is enough?

Keep up keeping up Effie- you know Bob Marley:

Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!

Preacherman, dont tell me,
Heaven is under the earth.
I know you dont know
What life is really worth.
Its not all that glitters is gold;
alf the story has never been told:
So now you see the light, eh!
Stand up for your rights. come on!

Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: dont give up the fight!

Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
Take away everything
And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!

Get up, stand up! (jah, jah!)
Stand up for your rights! (oh-hoo!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Dont give up the fight! (life is your right!)
Get up, stand up! (so we cant give up the fight!)
Stand up for your rights! (lord, lord!)
Get up, stand up! (keep on struggling on!)
Dont give up the fight! (yeah!)

We sick an tired of-a your ism-skism game -
Dyin n goin to heaven in-a jesus name, lord.
We know when we understand:
Almighty God is a living man.
You can fool some people sometimes,
But you cant fool all the people all the time.
So now we see the light (what you gonna do? ),
We gonna stand up for our rights! (yeah, yeah, yeah!)

So you better:
Get up, stand up! (in the morning! git it up!)
Stand up for your rights! (stand up for our rights!)
Get up, stand up!
Dont give up the fight! (dont give it up, dont give it up!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Stand up for your rights! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Dont give up the fight! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up!
Dont give up the fight!

Good luck to you Effie. I'm having a few battles with my insurance company, too. Sending you positive vibes. Btw, 3 of the meds my husband and I have to take everyday of our lives are not considered maintenance medications - funny huh?

Eff the insurance companies ! !
My Dad has been dead for almost 3 years and they're still sending me bills for medical care during the last 6 months of his life.
I just write the address of the cemetery on them and put "please forward" on the envelope.
Just a gentle remider to you all that these are the same pr*cks that are lobbying to require a DNA test when applying for health insurance.
I hope the bastards all choke to death on their money.

Effie - I am so sorry to hear you are having to do battle with your insurance company. It's unfair to pay your hard-earned dollars to 'insure' that your medical needs will be taken care of then find they are not. And it's silly (cruel, really ) to have to face a yearly song-and-dance on your MS meds. What...they think you are making this up (if only that were true)? They don't keep records (not like they haven't been paying for these meds and this condition already)? Good luck here - I'm glad to hear that you are getting support from your place of work (who chose this carrier to provide benefits to their employees). Go get 'em!!! And rant on - don't think you are alone here. The state of medical care in the United States is frightening.

Insurance companies suck, I am living on SSD which is about a third of what I should be getting from my private LTD, but
they had a loophole to screw me and screw me they did.

After my neck surgery I took me a year to get all my bills straightened out.

Randomly they would deny other medical claims with no cause.

I think they enjoy screwing with sick people.

RANT ON

thanks this is humiliating--i sat there counting pills & looking at my work & life plans & trying to divide the pills up in some priority order...i'm already paying full price on some meds out of our pockets, but this med is very pricey--Markp--i did look up & call that organization & offered any help i can provide to them...i spoke for quite awhile with a person there & their hearts & actions are in the right place...i knew that when i told her the insurance companies are murderers & torturers of people & she agreed....

thanks to those here who have offered comfort & support during another one of the ridiculous battles we all have to endure to survive in these ugly times...gotta get to more music today & do the best i can...alot of people have it way worse & they are too often brutalized by the corporate takeover of this country

well, for those who are interested,my friends at work made certain that i get my meds--once again--i am deeply grateful to them & to all of you for your support,so,i won--BUT WHAT OF THE MANY WHO DON'T HAVE SITUATIONS WHERE THIS CAN BE RESOLVED!!.........so,for me,this has always been an issue i've been passionate about--the availibilty & quality of care, the interference of corporate entities, the greed of the few & suffering of many...so,i have never & will never abandon this fight until this problem is resolved--every citizen deserves healthcare & provision of needed medicines--the insurance companies should be eliminated & the organization Markp turned me onto seems very sharp & compassionate....

My heart goes out to you and all who need help and can't get it. 10 years ago, my husband needed quintuple bypass surgery and we had no insurance. I had to hock my kids college funds, and everything we had just to get him surgery so he could live. It sucks.

My Brother, don't worry about me. I point out their blatant stupidity on a regular basis and sadly take some kind of perverse joy in it when it should really be pitied over the ignorance and the absurdity of it all.
My greater concern is for you and those like you who either can't get or have to jump through hoops and grovel to get what ends up being substandard care at best.
I also don't mind telling you that I am deeply moved by your concern and compassion for others while staring in the face of your own situation and I commend you for it.
On a side note, I did hear today that the Congress and Senate have passed into law a Bill that will make it illegal for employers and health insurance companies to require DNA submittal or use any kind of "genetic bias" as a basis for refusing employment or insurance of any kind.
Haven't read it at length to see what kind of teeth it has, but it does give me cause for some hope.
Keep your chin up my friend.
