Met Oldcoot, Lolasdeb and and her sister and friend. Good people. I looked for Skydogduane86 before show but missed him. Maybe another time. Derek kicked off at 7:00pm to nearly a full house at the Quest center. Started with Leavin Trunk, Meet me at the bottom??, an instrumental??, Music in the air??, Key to the highway.Sorry don't know the name of some of these. Played about 50 min.

Santana started around 8:20pm, crowd was immediately on their feet and remained that way for 95% of show.Kicked off with Jingo, Life is for living(I think), Everybody is everything, Put Your Lights On, Instrumental with Carlos on acoustic and great trumpet solo, I think Capri/Maria maria, Foo Foo, Incident at Neshnabar, Carlos strapped on a gold top LesPaul for a few songs and played Batuka, another song I don't know, Shine a light??? or something like that, Oye Coma Vey(sp?)

Trucks took the stage, and Carlos said this song is for George Bush, played Evil Ways, with Derek doing the guitar solo, then Love supreme??, then Exodus sequed into Get Up Stand Up, back to Exodus and Derek left the stage.

Played Yaleo, Black Magic woman/Gypsy Queen, then some song ????, Smooth was played somewhere in there. Encore - Woodstock chant, Soul Sacrifice, then Angel Chant/Into the night. 11:00 pm ended

The show went something like that, got a little loose on some Jack Daniels.

High energy show, 2-conga players, 1-horn,-1 trombone, bass, drummer, Carlos and another guitar player, keyboard player. All were obviously very talented and tight band.
Also 2- male vocalists.

Good night

Oh yea, this review is dedicated to Kitty (Kwidgeon).

Nice review Slim! Get up Stand Up? Has that been played on this tour yet? If so, I have not heard of it. Come on Saturday!

I believe they have been doing it as part of the medley when Derek comes out to play with Santana.

Just got back after spending some additional time in Omaha.

I really liked Derek's set but wish it was five times longer. I finally was able to talk a stage hand out of a setlist on the third try (first two guys total jerks). I can guarantee it was the only one that came off the stage. I'll have to learn scanning.

Basically blue with a potted plant (maybe for Earth Day?) with the plant's "spores" reading D T B... (pretty cool).

Got a So Close, So Far (one of my favs) and a nice Get What You Deserve. There was a newer song that was third and I didn't recognize it. Setlist list says Down Don't Bother Me but that wasn't it. They also flopped a couple of songs at the end with Up Above My Head and the final song being Key To The Highway which had the hairs on my arms tingly, just a scorcher.

Kofi played a nice flute solo on a Santana tune. Derek played on Evil Ways, a very brief solo and a longer 2 to 2 1/2 minute solo after Get Up Stand Up segue back into Exodus. The rest of the time he was way down in the mix when he made a couple slide runs and was playing rythmn. That was disappointing. You really could only hear him during the solos. Plus, being real picky here, I would rather that he and Carlos played together and traded off rather than a couple of solos and gone. But that's just me.

Had a great gathering on the banks of the Missouri with lolasdeb, her sister and friend Kathy. Couldn't have been a nicer day or company. A nice meal and the show was high energy and stellar throughout both DTB and Santana.

Also got to meet SkyDogDuane 86 and his Dad. Nice folks.

Fun enough to do again sometime.

LOL - I'm awake! Took yesterday off to recoup (long drive back after the show - the girls and I made the drive back instead of overnighting in Omaha so I was t.i.r.e.d yesterday)

First things first - it was a real honor to meet Coot and friend before the show and get a chance to sit and visit. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we all sat out on the patio of Rick's along the Missouri and got to shoot the breeze for a while before the show (and before they made us come inside for dinner ). Coot had Bobo's jacket and it was bittersweet for me knowing the jacket was attending the show, and somehow maybe some of Bob's spirit was there courtesy of Coot. Speaking of courtesy - how many folks do you meet for the first time and they gift you with a CD of the show you're about to attend (well, the Mohegan version, anyway ). This is the sort of kind and generous person OldCoot is! (so don't listen to the rumors!!! ) I have moved this to the top of the rotation in the car and am using the music to relive an amazing show.

SlimZimm! Was great meeting you at the show - glad we shared seat numbers beforehand! Good job on the set list - believe you and Coot got most of the tunes in your posts. Put Your Lights On and Corizon Espinado were also in Carlos set, I think. Couldn't believe it when they did the Get Up, Stand Up/Exodus thing. Especially with the band they had. Yowza! Kofi did the most beautiful flute solo and there was some Love, Devotion, and Surrender tease in there somewhere, also.

My impressions of the show. Agree with Coot. Derek's set was amazing but would have loved a longer set. Seemed I was just getting my Derek mojo really kicked in and poof - over. Carlos and his band were just superb - he has an outstanding group playing with him now and they are spot on. Also really enjoyed the 2 vocalists he's got now (he had the horns with him last time I saw him but believe one of the vocalists may be different). I have been a Santana fan forever (1st show was around 1971/1972 I believe) and have been a Derek fan since 1st hearing him play. And I've always felt that these 2 playing guitar together would be a match made in heaven. I wasn't disappointed. Added bonus - I had an aisle seat so had lot's of room to dance and don't believe I sat for the entire show. Mistake - wearing hiking boots to a dance-off ...my feet were sore yesterday (but my face was still smiling ) I did leave my voice somewhere within the Qwest center...if found, please return.

Nice phone-meeting you, too, Kitty! I'm confident we'll be in touch in the 3-D concert world one of these days. Hmmm - wonder if Dickey will be playing the Surf this year???

Haven't seen it on his website or theirs - yet. Hope it happens. The Surf is a great place to see him. I've seen him there 2 or 3 times, and it was fabulous!

Surf is a good place for shows - never seen Dickie up there but will make the drive up next time he plays. I did notice a couple of dates over the river to the East ... Rockford and Aurora (free concert) Illinois...a Friday/Saturday combo. Probably not too far from where you're at.

Listening to the Soul Stew Revival from Wanee and the third song last Tuesday during the DTB set actually was "Down Don't Bother Me."

About 3 - 4 hours for me, but not counting it out. Thinking possible Rockford, and bringing my 19 year old son - it's time for him to see his 2nd master player. Took him to BB King last year. If I go, I'll let you know.
