What, in your opinion, will the band need to do in order to make the 2009 shows the best ever?

Showing up is good enough for me, but hey, I'm easy.

1) invite dickey to sit in.
2) make it easier for true fans to get access to great seats
3) have one concert that is for fan club members only (i bet that we could get that going really easily)

I don't know about an entire tour, but I think it would be great to have one or two shows where virtually EVERY living former member of the band comes out for a song or two. The passing of Danny Federici reminded me of the Springsteen tour where all three guitarists (Bruce, Little Steven and Nils) all toured together. I know it sounds kind of crowded, but they could work it out. Crazy, huh?

Since its the 40th Anniversary...................

Put the whole tour on DVD. Not edited, everysong at every stop.
Have all the past members as a guest
Give the folks in the west some stops on the tour
No openers or co headliners, nothing but Brothers.
Have pre-show parties where fans can meet the musicians
Offer some sort of commemorative gift for all in attendance.

Works for me.
'Twould be nice too if they could get the connecting people involved in some way too.
Sea Level, CRS, Jimmy Hall (BLTH?), Randall Bramlett, maybe get Alan Walden and Mama Louise on stage....Jerry Wexler, Daughter Dowd, Ahmet's widow, Jimmy Johnson and David Hood, maybe even Bill Connell and Pete Carr. Everybody that got this thing off the ground and flying 40 years ago.

I heard he was going to be at the Beacon...

Seriously, though, my number one request would be for them to start playing a lot more songs from their back catalogue (True Gravity, KoB, Pegasus, etc).

1) Dedicate everything to the memory of Duane.

2) Invite a few select famous blues guitarists to show up unexpectedly here and there.
(Since Derek was invited to play with Clapton, invite Eric Clapton to stop in for a night or two and hit some more of those
old Derek and the Dominoes tunes! )

3) Remember to thank God publicly for allowing ABB to keep this thing going for so long!

Please come out West of Colorado....For those who are unable to travel (long distances and live out here) we desperately want to be a part of the 40th anny. tour.

Some sign of reconcilation between the ABB and Dickey on stage would help make these shows some of the best ever.

Anything beyond that with Dickey involved would be a bonus.

If this is their last tour, as there seems to be some scuttlebutt going around this board, then quite honestly I don't want any guests. (Don't consider Dickey to be a guest - Chuck either). The guests are great musicians and add variety to the mix sometimes, but if this is my last show, then I want the base lineup out there kicking ass. If this is the last time I hear Gregg sing live, then I want all I can get. I love Susan Tedeschi but one more "Don't Think Twice" is one too many if it's played instead of "Please Call Home." If this is the last Whipping Post, then I want Warren and Derek soloing. No offense to any of the great guests they've had over the years (Feel so Bad with Little Milton is one of my alltime favorite songs) just don't dilute the greatest live band ever.

Greg
