Sad.

Dan added a special texture to the E Street sound.

I always felt that Danny's organ gave the Bosses music that extra "oomph" that it needed. Bruce's lyrics and songs were great by themselves, but Danny provided that gravy (a la Gregg). It really made it all better.

I think I'll go home tonight and spin up "Kitty's Back" (from "The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle") - my favorite Springsteen tune and album.

Sweet music in heaven tonight. God bless Danny Federici.

RIP Danny. Your B-3 and accordian playing added much to the sound of the E Street Band.

This is heartbreaking news. I saw the videos of his last show on the last Bruce tour when he left to seek treatment and remember thinking 'let him get well, let him get well'. Godspeed Danny Federici and rest gently. Thanks for the joy your music brings.

It's very heartbreaking to learn of Dan's passing. A great member of one of the truly great American bands.

Thank you for the great playing on record and in concert in New Orleans and DC.

resquiat in pace, brother.

One of the first big rock and roll shows I ever saw was the Born In The USA tour. I may not be a fan of most of Bruce's recent work, but in their prime, the E Street Band was one of the greatest live bands of all time, and Federici was a big part of it. That show at the Omni in 1984 was a very big deal for me at the time, and I still remember it fondly. They played "Rosalita" AND "Jungleland" at that show, which was rare, and it rocked!

The combination of Federici on organ and "Professor" Roy Bittan on piano was one of the things that gave the E Street Band that big sound. You don't see many bands with two keyboard players, that always set them apart from other rock outfits.

Let me see if I can find that Springsteen show from 1975, if I can locate it I'll do a B&P in honor of Phantom Dan....

Like all of you, I was quite saddened to hear of Danny's passing. I saw Bruce & the E Street Band in concert last November ( before Danny left for medical treatment). So, I feel very fortunate to have that memory.
My deepest sympathies to Danny's family and the E Street Band.
