Dear Friends and Fans:

Like most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest.

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President. He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where "...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone."

At the moment, critics have tried to diminish Senator Obama through the exaggeration of certain of his comments and relationships. While these matters are worthy of some discussion, they have been ripped out of the context and fabric of the man's life and vision, so well described in his excellent book, Dreams of My Father, often in order to distract us from discussing the real issues: war and peace, the fight for economic and racial justice, reaffirming our Constitution, and the protection and enhancement of our environment.

After the terrible damage done over the past eight years, a great American reclamation project needs to be undertaken. I believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to lead that project and to lead us into the 21st Century with a renewed sense of moral purpose and of ourselves as Americans.

Over here on E Street, we're proud to support Obama for President.

So what. Springsteen politics have always been somewhat "Liberal" in nature. No big surprise over his endorsement of Obama. But beyond that, I don't think many voters, especially "working class voters" are going support Obama, simply because "Bruce Springsteen" likes him.

That would be like saying all the gays are going to vote for Hillary Clinton because Elton John supports Hillary. Some will, and some won't.

It's amazing the people who put stock in the fact that some movie star/rock star/sports star supports "whoever they support". The fact of the matter is, they are people just like the rest of us, and their support of a candidate should carry about as much weight as any of our support for the candidate that we choose.

People can like an artist's music, without necessairly agreeing with their political choices.

Besides, does anybody hold it against the Allman Brothers Band they supported Jimmy Carter way back in 1976?

Btw, here's a good article on the "worth" of a celebtity endorsement.

Maybe so, if you want America to be a Marxist country. Or did you not realize that what Rev Wright was teaching Obama for the last twenty years, as that's exactly what Black Liberation Theology is all about? It's not a Christian theology, but a Marxist one. I guess if you don't ask to many questions, Obama "might" be the perfect candidate. Of course, I have a "bad habit" OF asking to many questions.

Do you really, deep down, honestly think that if Obama gets elected President this will become a Marxist country?

ROFL! I havent seen you ask any questions yet. Which questions need to be answered? (Im asking for like the 5th time now).

Of course! All the Senators and Representatives will quit their jobs and our entire Democratic process (whats left of it) will crumble and Obama alone will make the rules. We will all be issued the little red book and be expected to give all of our paychecks to the government.

Of course, all this depends on whether or not the stealing from "me and mine" has commenced yet. I suspect it will take Obama a little while to gather his minions and take white america by storm.

Seriously though, we have survived the Bush administration so practically anything is an improvement.

This is classic. After this post, how can anyone take anything that CUH says with more than a grain of salt? Actually, CUH, you don't have a bad habit of asking questions, you have other bad habits, like talking down to those who disagree with you, not doing research beyond scratching the surface, fear mongering, and using quotation marks improperly.

OTF,

And people wonder why "their sh*t gets jumped". You're one of the first to come and try to "shut up" people you disagree with, which is something I've never tried to do. Hell, I encourage the argument. Your opinions are just like my opinions, our f*cking own, so don't even try to act "self-righteous" and "better" because my friend, you're not. Fact of the matter is, you're as a big an **** as anyone else around here, including myself, but to "damn full of yourself" to realize that particular fact.

Stay away from psychology, it ain't your strong point. I don't try to shut anyone up, I don't know how you can do that on a forum anyway. I don't act self-righteous or better than anyone. In threads other than political ones, I have as much fun being the butt of jokes as I have making a joke about someone else. And believe me, I have been put in my place by better people than you. And, unlike you, I can see where a person who thinks differently from me can have a valid opinion and I can speka with them without getting personal. I am full of myself? That is one thing that I am sure that I am not. Now do you think that maybe you can have a civil discussion with everyone? I'll wipe the slate clean if you will.

Whatever, Mr Pretentious.

As I'm sure you feel "your sh*t don't stink". Must be nice to have such a high opinion of ones self.

Last time I checked, Bruce Springsteen was a musician.

Who really cares what he thinks?
