You should try the Howlin Wolf! I think Derek is supposed to play there during jazz fest!

Here's some advice, when getting into the back seat of a Cab in the French quarter, make sure the door handles are intact.

Also, keep your wallet in your front pocket.

I just got back tonight from being their this weekend. I haven't slept since Friday night! Go to Bourbon St and there are two bars that have great live blues music. Just walk down and you will see it.

You can search here for shows. This is Offbeat Magazine, one of the free entertainment magazines available in NOLA. Many great clubs throughout the city. Usually for blues, the Rock & Bowl is one of the best spots, in the midtown section. Tab Benoit, Sonny Landreth, Snooks Eaglin are regulars, among others.

If some random street person ask you "I bet I can guess where you got those shoes at" don't fall for it.

Tipitina's!! Bryan Lee plays in a blues club down on Bourbon Street - he's a good bluesman. Danik - you are from Israel, correct? If so you might try the Rock 'N' Bowl for some great music and something uniquely American. Enjoy your trip to New Orleans! It is a great place!

carrollton station, one eyed jacks, le bon temps, margaritaville (sometimes), checkpoint charlie, snug harbor & club brazil (last 3 are on or just off frenchman st. where they staple flyers to the telephone poles & that's how you know who's playing where) & the maple leaf of course. Big Al Carson sings with his band "The Bluemasters" at the Funky Pirate on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter several nights a week. check out http://www.jimmythibodeaux.com/ at the Krazy Korner (the Funky Pirate and the Krazy Korner are the only two bars I would go into on bourbon st). too bad you just missed the french quarter festival. There's a real little club right off lee circle--the Circle Bar, 1032 St. Charles Ave., and the Big Top, 1638 Clio St. has music sometimes. And Joe Krown is all over the place: http://www.joekrown.com/gigs.htm. A lot of New orleans clubs don't have a lot of amenities (like chairs) & putting my wallet in my front pocket didn't work for me--I still don't know how anybody could have gotten it, but somebody did. That's why I always carry a spare one with a few bucks in it whenever I'm down there!

Paul Sanchez will playing at Carrollton Station, Fri Apr 25 08 09:00 PM, 8140 Willow, New Orleans, LA, 70118, US. New Orleans born and bred, more of a troubadour but it is a great show. Actually to keep the wallet safe, one of those little bags from India with the small long rope type straps that goes under the shirt works best.

Wow, the Howlin' Wolf's schedule is SICK! God, I wish I could afford the trip this year.

Also, One Eyed Jack's is an amazing venue. Saw Garage a Benevento (Stanton Moore, Skerik, Mike Dillon, Marco Benevento) last year, and was completely floored.
