Clinton Portrays Herself as a Pro-Gun Churchgoer
By Julie Bosman

VALPARAISO, Ind. - Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton managed to co-opt Mr. Obama’s message of hope and optimism, beginning a speech in Valparaiso, Ind., by talking about how positive and “fundamentally optimistic” Americans are.
“We don’t get bogged down and looking back – we’re always looking forward,” she said, as heavy applause nearly drowned out her words. “Whatever obstacle we see, we get over it. Whatever challenge we have, we meet it. We’re the problem-solvers, we’re the innovators, we’re the people who make the better future.”
For the third time since Mr. Obama’s remarks were made public Friday night, Mrs. Clinton criticized him at length, saying his comments seemed “kind of elitist and out of touch.”
“I disagree with Senator Obama’s assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration,” she said.

She described herself as a pro-gun churchgoer, recalling that her father taught her how to shoot a gun when she was a young girl and said that her faith “is the faith of my parents and my grandparents.”

I'm sure, in some capacity she is a churchgoer but pro gun...not sure I'm buying that one.

Please keep all comments ON TOPIC, no comments about Chenny shooting people or Bush being an idiot...thank you.

Hillary is a political opportunist, and she is jumping all over this. She is pandering to the crowd, invoking their best images of themselves, and acting like everyone in America is all apple pie, baseball and hotdogs, and patriotism in this country. That is nonsense, and Obama is absolutely correct with his comments about small-towns all across the country. They apply to big cities, too. I think the thing that scares people the most about Obama is that he is speaking truthfully about topics that are usually glossed over in mainstream America, which tends to think that the whole country is pretty much like their neighborhood, and that most people think about the same way they do.

Obama's response to these comments was pretty funny, too...something to the effect of Hilary as Annie Oakley.

I guess Hilary's pro-gun stance [I also saw her slam down a shot of whiskey with some locals on video] is no more far fetched than bush being a real rancher in crawford texas. or a real texan for that matter.

I ask this in all seriousness; what difference does it make?

Take me for example...I grew up in Delaware. I have not lived there since I went away to school when I was 14, though. I have since lived in New York and now I live in New Jersey. In which state am I qualified to legislate? (Keep your snide comments to yourself!)

And as it pertains to New York, with the exception of many upstaters I guess, who is a real New Yorker? Having lived in the city for over 10 years and worked in the city for 16, I consider myself a New Yorker. But I wasn't raised here.

If someone can convice the voters of a certain state that they have the best interests of those voters in mind and they are qualified to to be a legislator, who really cares if they're a "real New Yorker" or a "real Pennsylvanian"?

I agree with you, I was just flipping back at pops. To his point he compared an obvious falsehood that Hillary was pro gun to where someone lives...apples and oranges.
