I hope I am wrong about this but I just heard from a friend who is very close with a major ticket broker that all ABB shows for 2008 will be canceled. Not just postponed, but canceled. Does anyone have any news on this potentially sad turn of events?

I don't have any news but I wouldn't put too much stock in that comment at this point. First of all they don't have many dates scheduled at this point. So besides the Beacon shows which as of now are postponed, there are many dates to cancel.

The real important issue is Gregg's health. Derek Trucks has stated that the band was practicing for the Beacon Shows but Gregg decided at that point he didn't have enough energy to do the run. So Gregg has practiced at least a few times recently. He isn't completely out of commission so to speak. That would seem to bode well for shows later in the year. Until we get confirmation one way or the other, all we can do is sit tight and say a prayer or two for Gregg.

I think they are keeping their fingers crossed that he'll regain his strength for the shows scheduled in August. If he can regroup and do those, there's hope for a summer tour. I'm sure it will be July before they can even begin to evaluate his condition for the August shows.

I'm still hopeful I'll see my favorite band at least once this year. But if I don't, I'll just be happy for Gregg to regain his health and strength.

I have no inside info or anything like that but I'm not expecting the brothers to play any dates this year. My understanding of the treatment is that it takes a long time to really get your energy back, if he's wanting to be able to go at 100% I just don't see any tours and frankly I'd rather he rest up this year and they hit the road in 09 with as much vengeance as 60 year old guys can. We'll see what happens but I wouldn't be surprised if everything gets cancelled.

Along these lines, what are some of you doing regarding your Beacon tix?

1) Requesting refund and re-buy tix if the fall run materializes?

2) Gimme my money back Ticketbastard and rip me off the $3.xx for nothing fee.

3) Havn't decided how long I'll wait for news but might pull the refund trigger soon if news isn't forthcoming.

I'm going with 3. I totally understand the situation and hope Gregg gets better, gotta give it up to someone that won't go out unless he can give it his all, but it would be nice to have an idea of when they will be rescheduled, if at all. I'm trying to plan other things for the summer so if we don't know when they will be rescheduled, I could use the money back.

OH MAN...my siser inlaw emailed ticketmaster to "ask" about a refund if should choose one and they automaticly refunded her tickets!! After several phone calls they said there was nothing they could do until a show reschedule date was announced! So be careful if your just inquiring! I did pm Lana to ask for help because at this point we still want to hold onto the tickets pending the new dates....$#*%$@ Ticketba$#ard....

This is my modus operandi. But it seems like when the time comes they're going to have reissue tickets anyway. How would they decide which originally scheduled show to simply move to WHICH new night? A logistical nightmare on the horizon, Captain!

Whatever, Debbie Downer.

This band will ride again. Maybe not this year. But they'll be back.

Gregg's health comes first of course, but if they are gonna cancel the whole year I hope they just let us hold on to our existing tickets for the Beacon instead of having to go through the refund process. You don't get the fees back when you get a refund. I found that out when I sent a Van Halen ticket in for refund recently. Then we would just have to go through all the presale and Ticketmaster BS all over again. That would be like hitting you for double the fees on each ticket.

I assume they will label the shows that were postponed "First Tuesday, Firsth Thursday , 2d Firday etc." and simply move the whole thing to new dates so the first Friday from May will be honored as the first Friday for the new run. For now, I am holding off but I think we are entitled to some news fairly soon. I want to keep my tickets if there is a chance of re-scheduling in the fall because I am happy with the seats I got this time.

Doug

Yeah, I totally understand people wanting to keep their front-ish row seats, and the band and the venue wanting to keep their sale (as well as the band perhaps just not knowing when Gregg will be able to return), but some news, even if it's just a general or possible time frame, would be much appreciated.

I have a ticket for the MA show, and am hoping for a NH show the night before. However, If I were a venue, I might be a bit hesitant to book 'em.

your source is probably correct. I doubt there will be any touring this year. It will give them more time to go out with a bang for the 40th Anniversary tour.

I'm going with a modification to #3. I'll wait as long as it takes.
