Just looking through my summer concert calendar and saw that Mister Miller and Cocker are playing the Gorge at George (the worlds greatest concert venue) Washington on the Cdn August Long Weekend.

Tickets are $70.00 for reserved seating, plus camping, beer, travel, etc. your looking at 500.00 for the weekend Has anyone seen either of these guys lately? Do you think its worth it to drop ~ $500.00 for the wife and I to check this show out?

$70.00, yes. $500.00, no.

But that's just me.

Depends on your tastes, I suppose. I've never seen Joe Cocker, but I did see Steve Miller at the City Stages Festival a couple of years back. I was blown away by him and his band. I always associated him with all those "poppy radio songs". The guy's a player! His band was great, too. It also helped that Eric Johnson (who played the same stage just before Miller) sat in for a good bit of the set.

If it was me...no....

I like Cocker..but he was at his best years ago.......I can do without Stevie Miller at the present time.

Only chance I had to see Miller(during the 70's)...we went with friends who had their tickets for the Fox. The show was sold out...so me and my buddy bought some Acid and sat on a bench and laughed at people until the show was over.

Don't know about $500, but I'm spending $9.71 and 1.5 gallons of gas to see him in May. And is that $500cdn? What is that now, $600US? Ugh.

I saw Steve Miller last year at Jones Beach, it was well worth $50. Cocker is just gravy.

I saw Steve Miller and The Doobie Brothers last year at Jones Beach for free. All I had to do was buy $10.00 worth of B&G pickles and bring the receipt to the venue. I wouldn't pay $500.00 to see Jesus Christ himself much less Steve Miller. Maybe if you could bring back a concert bill of Jimi Hendricks, Janis Joplin, and the Doors I would consider a $500.00 ticket.

PS - The Steve Miller Band was very good last year and Joe Cocker was good when I saw him a while back. I would pay probably no more than $50.00 for a decent seat or $30.00 for a nosebleed. I usually go for the nosebleeds in the summer to save money for all those expensive Beacon shows.

Absolutely not - wouldn't pay $500 to see anyone. Have seen Joe live and he was amazing and I've seen Steve Miller many moons ago but not really interested in seeing him any more. Oops - just re-read your email and saw that tix are $70. Might go the $70.00 route (but still not that interested in Steve Miller).

I agree although I probably spent close to that when all was said & done after my only Beacon show when you figure ticket, transporation & accomodations...
never that much for a ticket though! That's insane.

I have to tell you all, I was front and center at Woodstock' 69 when Joe and the Grease Band played that unforgetable set, to me that was priceless and definately would be worth $500 to me. I was actually afraid to yell for an encore that day as Joe Cocker put so much into his performance I thought, if he 'd came back out he would've collapsed.

last time I saw Joe was about 5 years ago opening on Tina Turner's farewell tour.

His band was tight, and he sounded great. For me he was better than Tina.
(not that Tina was bad, her show was more of a production set, Joe was just
the music.)

Haven't seen SMB since the 70's .

I had considered this one at Merriweather.

Assuming I had $500 to spend on an event - a dangerous assumption these days - maybe for good seat for an evening with a reunited Pink Floyd . . . but that would probably be the only living act I would even consider spending that kind of dough on.

70 bucks is not so bad...would you spend the rest anyway on another camping drinking trip? Both acts have a long list of material to draw from

My anniversary/ june 21 with Billy Joel tickets and dinner will exceed that.. It is worth it imo and Joel is passed his prime too...but we will have a memorable time. I hope you do too
