TOM PETTY REFORMS HIS OLD BAND
FOR DEBUT ALBUM AND THEATRE/CLUB TOUR IN APRIL

Vintage Mud
"I just finished a record with Mudcrutch, my old band before the Heartbreakers. I am over the moon about it. I couldn't have hoped for it to be as good as it came out," says Tom Petty.

Before embarking on his summer tour with Steve Winwood, Petty and Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench will join Petty's old bandmates singer-guitarist Tom Leadon and drummer Randall Marsh for a reunion even the most speculative rock fans couldn't have predicted.

The pride of Gaineville, Florida in the early '70s, Mudcrutch released only one single in their time together before disbanding in 1975. More than 30 years later, Mudcrutch will release their self-titled debut full-length on April 29, bringing new shades of meaning to the phrase "long awaited."

Mudcrutch Tour Dates
April 12 - Benefit For The Midnight Mission at Malibu PAC, Malibu, CA
April 14 - Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, Santa Cruz, CA
April 16 - Fillmore, San Francisco, CA
April 17 - Fillmore, San Francisco, CA
April 19 - Arlington Theatre, Santa Barbara, CA
April 20 - Ventura Theater, Ventura, CA
April 22 - Concerts in The Park, Alpine, CA
April 25 - Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA
April 26 - Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA
April 28 - Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA
April 29 - Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA

Petty's 6 disc box set "Playback" has alot about the history of the band in the booklet that comes with it. One of my all time favorite box sets!

One of the things, I really like about Tom Petty, is that he has always remembers his "roots". Glad to hear of the Mudcrutch CD and reunion. In many, many ways Mudcrutch is to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakes, what the Hourglass (Duane/Gregg) and the Second Coming (Berry/Dickey) were to the Allman Brothers Band.

Absolutely great CD. Best Petty I've heard in years. Would love for them to do an East Coast theatre swing.

Has anyone seen "Running Down A Dream" the 4 hour documentary by Peter Bogdonavich? I highly reccomend it's the fastest 4 hour DVD you'll ever watch.

I saw that and enjoyed it very much.Thought it was cool to hear how TP kept the cost of lp's down a couple years longer.
