Now that the May run has been postponed, it appears the only window for the Beacon run in the near future is June, Gregg's health permitting. Published reports have the Beacon undergoing renovations beginning in August, the same time the Brothers take to the road for 12 summer dates with Ratdog. Derek's schedule is booked solid for most of July, soooo it's June or swoon. Of course, there's always the option of taking it all to another venue such as the United Palace way up town (don't rule that out just yet), but as far as the Beacon, the bars, and the neighborhood we've all come to know and love, June looks to be it!

I don't think it will be June. I was thinking more like September, October, or November. The longer Gregg takes to recover the better for everyone involved. I think June might be a bit soon for a fifteen night run. ____________________ Pete

my guess would be at the soonest September. Steely Dan has the Beacon in mid june for 3 nights and Derek has most of July booked from 3 July on.

Steely Dan has added a 4th Beacon show in June, and since they've canceled their mid-June Bonaroo appearance too, it looks like the fall at best for the ABB. I don't see them canceling Bonaroo and then turning around and doing the Beacon at the same time. I don't think anyone knows when (or if) it will be at this point. ____________________

Not a chance in the world it will be June. I am thinking November of next year.

If that's the case, they are gonna earn quite a bit of interest with that ticket money. If they do the summer tour with no problems I would think we will have a run sometime in late 2008. If Gregg isn't ready and needs more time to recover then you may be right about March 2009. I hope he recovers quickly....... and fully! ____________________ Pete

i guess what i was trying to say is that if it's not in June, and i agree that June is a long shot, the Beacon probably won't be available the remainder of the year. that means, either there is no run this year at all, or the run is going to be somewhere other than the Beacon.
that would mean the tickets everyone is now holding would be obsolete, and would put into question at what point in time refunds would be appropriate. |

I pray it is next year, not 2008. The best thing for GA is next year. It takes a darn year to recover from the meds.
Food for thought:
On treatment:
I went from 190 pounds to 154. I had the concentration camp look.
I worked for most of TX (32 hour weeks), and physically I had to quit the last two months of TX, I hit the wall. It is a downward cylce of cummulative weariness on TX. The end months are the dog days.
I had significant hair thinning (it varies among patients, but SOME is normal) and went from ponytail to crew cut, because it looked very ratty and chemo chic
On TX, rashes are common.
It is tough road, TX, but doable. Knowing what I know, I will gladly wait until 2009, and hope Gregg gets a ton of R&R and recuperation time. He may need it.

I agree. Why not just take the whole year off if need be and come back stronger and re-energized in 2009.
We would all miss seeing The Brothers play music this year - especially The Beacon run, but IF it happens that he needs the full year off to be at 100%, so be it...I am sure he could use the rest to fully recover.
Get well Gregg! One day at a time...

Myself, I'm thinking Fall for the Beacon run, probably in November the two weekend before and after Thanksgiving. But like everybody else, it should be when Gregg's health permits. Ain't no need to rush back out on the road. |

The only thing I would add is that, in past years, fall is prime touring time for DTB, especially here on the East Coast, I always count on seeing them in November. I guess we'll see what shakes out. |

If a year off is what it takes to keep the road going on then I hope they take all the time they need. Anyone's health, let alone Gregg's, is paramount over any kind of gig. I'd rather see a totally healthy, relaxed and refreshed band of brothers a year from now than risk this being a farewell tour of some sort. ____________________ There ain't no devil that's just God when he's drunk. |

They probably should have cancelled everything until Gregg is ready however they are leaving the August dates up and postponed vs cancelled the Beacon so there probably will be one September/October. ____________________ Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series Champions. |

So when is the Beacon undergoing renovations?
If it is this year, then forget a Beacon appearance until work is done.

Me, like eveyone else on this site are hoping Gregg takes all the time needed for his full recovery
If that means no Beacon this year then so be it. Perhaps, he can do some writing while recovering as long as he is not stressed out. But I am sure his main focus will be to get better |
