When the announcements came out about higher ticket prices and the change from March to May, along with apparently more difficulty in actually landing tickets, it seemed a lot of people were going to be cutting back on their Beacon fix this year.

Since I tend to be the "organizer" for the annual trek for my group of friends, I know that this year we did end up cutting back.

2004: 1 show, 3 tickets
2005: 2 shows, 6 tickets
2006: 3 shows, 12 tickets
2007: 3 shows, 14 tickets
2008: 1 show, 4 tickets (although I'd still buy more for May 10 if I find them).

Did your plans change for this year versus other years? Was it because of the price, date change, harder to get tickets, no party at the Beacon Hotel, gas is too expensive, conflict with the Kid Rock tour?

I'm blowing it off this year- combination of getting laid off at my FT gig & scraping by on unemployment and PT work; $3.25 gas and no one to split the 3 hour each way ride with; rise in ticket price combined with bad vibes of MSG management; no new original ABB tunes with the exception of Egypt in several years; busy staying focussed on younger daughter exiting high school on time this June. A couple of summer shed shows closer to home will work OK for me

No, no, no, no, no, yes and what does KR have to do with anything?

There will be 15 shows that will either be sold out or very close to sold out as always so lots of folks will still be going.

i cut back this year by buying fewer tix just due to so many concerts that i want to see and the prices and economy. i always treat whoever i go with so instead of 4 tix for 2 shows, i bought 6 tix

Eight beacon shows last year. Four shows this year. No summer sheds so far. I don't buy bad seats anymore.

When all is said and done,I may end up going to as many as usual, but right now I am going to less because of the change in dates.May is a very busy month for me and until I have some schedules in my hand I didn't want to buy tickets for too many shows that I might have to unload.

With the rise of prices for everything, not just tickets,I probably wouldn't be going at all if I didn't live in NYC.

Not going this year. Home improvement costs are keeping me closer to home for the year.

I only saw one show last year and this year I'm seeing two.
We are staying four nights and I don't remember how many
nights last year, but I think it was three. This is an expensive
trip. Guess I'll have to cut back on other things.

I actually increased from 2 shows to 3 been wanting to do it for years and I just have this feeling its not going to go on much longer. With the Beacon being questionable this year as well and perhaps closed for renovation in the future and the band hitting 40 years I wanted to suck up all I could, now with Gregg being i'll who knows **sigh**

4 shows again this year for me, as usual. i can't even remember how many tickets i wound up buying and i'm still looking for some. got a good friend who throws a huge party every year when the band comes their way. his daughter and her BF are going the last night, i've decided, arbitrarily, that my mission this year is to get them some great tickets so she can show off for him, and reflect back well on her doting dad. wish me luck.

In 2006 and 2007 I attended 4 shows each year. This year I cut it back to 3. I was actually only going to 2 shows, but when orch seats for the final Saturday popped up a couple of weeks ago I couldn't resist.

The way prices are increasing on everything in this economy I'm gonna have no choice but to cut back on shows. Really having to tighten up the belt and entertainment unfortunetly will be the first thing to scale back on. Seems like I've been scaling back every year a little bit more. Could be my last Mountain Jam this year as I'm really pushing it by even going this year. Tickets, hotel, gas and food all add up pretty fast. Tough to justify when I'm scraping to put healthy food on the table and gas in the car. Another thing I have George(dumb dumb)Bush to thank for.

I actually am attending one more this year and I am almost always part of the peanut section. My Beacon attendance by year:

2003 - 2 shows
2004 - 2 shows
2005 - 1 show
2006 - 2 shows
2007 - 2 shows
2008 - 3 shows
12 shows total after the ones in May ....nowhere near Vinsanity but each one was great!!!!

I don't think that Bush is great but it is utter bullspit that people blame EVERYTHING on him as if he has the final say on EVERYTHING. I doubt very much that he really has much to do with the gas prices, for example, considering the major suppliers are Middle Eastern and the fact that ethanol has proven not quite as easy to use as advertised.

Bush(dumb dumb) and his puppeteers started a senseless war in the Middle East which definetly has something to do with the crazy fuel prices which definetly has something to do with prices of everything else rising. Not to mention the price of the war itself, which we are also funding(we were told it would be paid for with Iraqi oil revenue) so we are really getting screwed at both ends by Bush and his henchmen. The so called strong economy was supposed to be the only successful thing Bush has accomplished. Now his legacy is of a complete failure. The worst President in USA history. So yes I do blame Bush for my current economic state. We will all be paying for his myriad of mistakes for decades to come. Sorry I had to rant here but this is just a real sore subject with me right now. I know many people that are hurting much more than me and could care less about paying for concerts. They are having trouble just paying their bills.

No offense but you seem to be a weak American who like many others likes to blame all of the problems of your own on someone else or something else. This country has been at war for most of its existence under both Republican and Democrat control..since its inception. I do not agree with it but it is something that those who have not been in the military do not truly understand beacuse we do not get to see the facts that they have access too. To say he is dumb is so immature that it is almost funny..... What are you doing to better this country or your own position for that matter? Wht about your friend? Does he have more than one job? I don't think people during the Great Depression bitched when they had to do any job available to put something on the dinner table. Many Americans are lazy and they don't want to work more than one job and they want an easy one at that. This, and its parental effect on the youth of today's America, is the real problem that the US is facing in the upcoming years. Ask any teacher of today and you will see that many of the students, who are our future voting citizens, care more about their Ipods and cell phones than they do about their own futures. A president can be spineless but that doesn't mean that the backbone braced by the citizens needs to be weakened too.

Just my .02... Presidents get way too much credit/blame for economic issues. Economics are going to ebb and flow.

3 shows this year because Mt. Jam is coming up just a week later and that is setting me back a pretty penny.

I saw the ABB at the Fillmore East and then pretty much took a break until I went to the Beacon run in 2003.I used up my annual vacation time/funds and caught every show, each one more thrilling than the last.Did the same thing again last year and had one FIERCE vacation!I was real serious about only doing one show this year due to the elevated prices but once the March run was postponed I realized how precious these Beacon shows are.Got a commitment to go see the Dawg on 5/23 that I'm in much conflict about but expect to go to all other shows this year(just need to buy a single for 5/17 ,pm me if you know one for sale). Not the ideal vacation for everyone, but for this hard workin' kid it's as good as it gets and I'm REAL thankful for the blessing of being able to enjoy ABB after all these years.
